I'm getting my ear lobes pierced in a few weeks, and I was wondering how much it hurts. What sort of stuff could I use to to clean my newly pierced ears too? thanks.

PS. I'm getting my ears pierced at Claire's but I really don't want to use the stuff that they would give me.

It pinches for a second when they do it, and depending on your sensitivity, it may throb for a few hours after. It's not that bad.

As far as cleaning goes, I'd recommend hydrogen peroxide. It will prevent infection.

Claire's is a great place to get your ears pierced. Yes it does hurt, but if you can have the Claire's staff pierce both your ears at the same time it cuts down on the pain. The pain of piercings is usually just an annoying dull pain. No sweat though, it goes away within a few days, if not less. Dial antibacterial soap actually works the best for cleaning and keeping the germs out of the open skin.

It does not hurt at all... the higher up the ear, the more painful but if you're getting your ear lobes pierced for the first time it should be pain free. Just make sure the earring isn't too tight and pinching your ear. Make sure to keep it clean as well--I agree with other posters in suggesting hydrogen peroxide.

The bottom of your eyes does not hurt at all. I recently got the top of my ear pierced and it burned and throbbed for awhile that day. I ended up taking it out about a week ago, because it was so sensitive that if one of my children bumped it or even the way I slept at night could be painfull . It was still so sore after six weeks. I was not keeping something in my ear that I had to worry with that much. My daughter has the top of both of hers the only complaint I hear from her is when brushing her hair if she bumps it. Mine may have been just irratated but it hurt! The bottom part of my ears are pierced and no trouble and I have double holes on the bottom

It doesn't hurt that bad, just a quick pinch and then they'll be red afterwards and maybe a bit sore.

As for Claire's, let me strongly urge you AGAINST getting it done there. I used to work there and the associates get very little training on ear piercing. Seriously, you read a few pages about it, pierce a piece of foam attached to cardboard, and then your manager's ear and then you're out piercing customers. Sound like good training to you?

For the same price (seriously call and ask) go to a professional piercer and get a much straighter and cleaner piercing. Follow the piercer's instructions on how to clean it (usually soap and water).

It really doesn't hurt much, you'll be fine. I hope you consider my advice.

Honestly, ear piercing (just the lobes) is almost painless. I have two holes on each side and one in my upper cartilage. The second lobe holes I did myself by just pushing piercers earrings through. Also the places with the ear guns are really fast so you hardly notice. Just make sure they clean the piercing equipment before going near you ear so it won't get infected. Trust me. I am not good with pain at all. I hate anything with a point. I almost cry when I have to get a filling. Now if you get the cartilage pierced I am not gonna lie. It will hurt like hell if someone just tries to push it through. I did mine myself. Anyways claire's solution actually works very well but you can go to the piercing pagoda in the mall and see what kind of solution they have. Good luck!

The worst part is when they actually pierce the lobe, but after that it just kind of stings. You'll have to sleep differently to keep pressure off of your newly pierced ears. To clean, use hydrogen peroxide and twist them everyday to make sure they don't stick. Every so often, take your earrings out and clean them off to prevent infection.

It hurts for like a nanosecond, it feels like a pinch...u really should use the stuff they give you, my sister didnt and then her earring were all gross but NOT INFECTED!!!
i got my second hole done at Pagodas which i hear is a little better than Claires but thats a different story...if ur ears are red for a little bit after...thats normal but if they are really red after 3 days or so then u may have a problem....all in all they dont hurt

I was actually surprised at how much it DIDN'T hurt! It's really only a slight pinch, it'll hurt for a second of course, but then it's nothing! Be sure to follow their instruction explicitly--use what they give you or hydrogen peroxide, and be sure to turn those suckers, or they'll get infected (personal experience). I got mine pierced at Claire's also, they were really nice.
P.S. The stuff they gave me to use was actually pretty good.

its like getting pinched REALLY HARD.
im not that good w/ pain either, just metion getting shots and i want to cry, but for me, the actual piercing didnt hurt that much. it hurts more afterwards, your ears ache and burn for a while. you might not want to sleep on your side for a few nights. and be careful pulling shirts over your head, you dont realize how that pulls on your earlobes until you get them pierced. to clean them, i dont know why you wont use the claires stuff, its not poisonous or anything, but you can use just plain old rubbing alcohol.
