People bash us for one or more of a couple reasons:
1. They think we're not Christians (That is only Americans mostly, I discovered Europeans and Africans dont do that.)
2. It is a sign of their own insecurities.
3. They have a fear of being converted.
4. They were excomunicated and they want revenge.

Well, being a Mormon myself, I can tell you from experience that a lot of it has to do with people being misinformed on what our beliefs are.

I live in the south (the Bible belt) and anti Mormon sermons are preached from the pulpit in many of the other churches here. I have actually sat in on some of these and am always amazed at some of the crazy things they come up.

Bashing is different than criticizing.

Bashing implies using Bible verses to disprove another religion in favor of one's own.

Criticising means exposing the flaws.

I am a Mormon Critic, not a Mormon Basher. I merely expose the faulty logic and historical dilemmas associated with the LDS Church, its offspring churches, its scripture, and its leaders.

If you want to know more beyond this, then simply contact me through email or IM. I won't call you a cult, I won't say you're not Christian. I'll merely present what I have learned, give you the opportunity to refute it, and have a meaningful discussion about it.

I am Mormon. There is nothing wrong with it. For the faith needed to become and act as a Mormon, there must be something special about it. Otherwise, people would not adhere to the faith. It is the fastest growing denomination in America, if not the world. That means something; something significant.

I think people listen, and believe, the lies that anti-Mormons say. The Mormon bashers don't understand or they are just ignorant.

I would like to know the purpose of the bashing. If they are trying to convince Mormons that they are wrong, sorry but they will fail. If they are trying to convince non-Mormons, all they are doing is spreading lies and hate.

Actually is is ALMOST humorous when you have people post statements like, "They aren't Christians, even though they say they are." Who would know better that we ARE Christians - the Mormon or the anti-Mormon?

Probably because of the secretiveness of your religion. Unless you are Mormon you can't go to the temple for weddings and the such. They come across as a secret society of people. Some of the religious rituals (baptism of the dead) and others. Mormons also claim to have another holy book (for Christendom anyway) other then the bible. I lived in Utah for 18 years in a very small town (not being Mormon) it was very difficult to say the least. They were hate full and intolerant of anything else. Not to mention the you have some carnage in your history as well. (mountain valley, polygamy and the such..) So a lot of the bad will may be self inflicted.

Accept this as not demeaning, but by someone whose already traveled this road.

Mormonism is based on the imagination idle but pious fraud, a book translated from a non-existent source about an nonexistent people written in a non-existent text.

It's the same scenario of a not well educated fantasy writer creating a work of religious fiction that is part political, autobiographical, quasi-religious, and heavily borrowed by other not very well thought-out theories present at the time. Think L Ron Hubbard.

Smiths early life was shaped by post-revolutionary religious experimentation, family belies and even rural folklore, and this was also shaped into his religious 'thought'.

Visions and angelic visitations were common during this period as people freed themselves from rigid organized religious dogma and practices.

The true fault with mormonism is it's claim to supremacy of all religious practice as the one true, most correct, restored non apostate church; and all the others are false, lead by Satan, etc. It's historical claims of the BoM and BoA are clearly discredited, and it's social experiment with polygamy and overt discrimination remains as an unapologetic black eye.

Morally nice, if not over-conforming people do not constitute moral superiority over others, nor confirm it's 'truth'. The message is obliterated by the original messenger.

Not just mormons, wiccans to and Muslims who have more the one wife and live here and brake the law, people who have never been wiccan and are christian and don't know th eevils of witchcraft, but think Harry (potty mouth) Potter is just a cute child's book. No not just mormons, who are lost as an easter egg, but others as well.

Hey LDS Mormons If God Himself doesn't know of any other gods, how could the Mormons know of millions of gods?
“ Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel, And his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: ‘ I am the First and I am the Last; Besides Me there is no God. (Isaiah 44:6)

Is there a God besides Me? Indeed there is no other Rock; I know not one. (Isaiah 44:8)

Aslo see Isaiah 45:5; 45:14; 45:21; 45:22; 46:5; 46:9; 43:10 all of these verses say there is only one God

Yet part of the mormon doctrine of God is the belief that every male mormon can become a god himself? joseph smith said, " You have got to learn to become gods yourselves the same as all gods before you." Brigham Young said, " The Lord created you and me for the purpose of becoming gods like himself. We are created to become gods like unto out father in heaven.

I am a big time mormon basher on this board but in all seriousness I won't bash right now. I bash mormons because of their religious beliefs. I find the mormon beliefs of the afterlife are very materialistic and created a belief system about God that they could handle not a God that handles them(or us). I am a christian and in the bible it says beware of false prophets and then that Smith guy comes out with this really warped & alternate view on christianity something doesn't smell right.

Not everyone bashes Mormons.

Those who bash Mormons have an animosity toward the Church. Love comes from God; animosity comes from the devil.
