1 Cor. 14 Message Bible
If you praise him in the private language of tongues, God understands you but no one else does, for you are sharing intimacies just between you and him.

Yes I believe in speaking in tongues and the manifestation of the Holy Spirit, I am a very strong believer, I have been speaking in tongues since I was saved. I have no idea what I say but its not for me to know, its for God to know..there are the ones who think it isn't real or they think it isn't for us today but I am one who knows it is very real today and it is for me today..Joy & Peace

I'm very glad you've posted this question and given these web links. I shall defer judgement till I've looked at them (which is only fair and reasonable), but I have a sneaky suspicion that you and I are in opposing camps on this subject! I would say that God is neither male nor female, and that would apply also to the Holy Spirit. I don't think this has anything to do with gender or human attributes. But I haven't looked at the links. Back later... Later. Paul did NOT introduce a new idea into Christian literature. The Word, the Logos, Wisdom, I AM, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit were all around at the time of creation. Sophia is a pagan goddess. I believe she appears also in Islamic tradition (but I base this only on a distant recollection of something I read - I could be wrong). There's a whole load of rubbish written against Paul, especially to suggest he was a mysoginist. The arguments of his detractors do not convince me. Satan, that original liar and the father of the lie, must be laughing all the way to hell knowing how many people he's fooled and duped into thinking that Paul taught a false gospel. The Holy Spirit has never been lost to Christianity and tirelessly points us to Christ and God's plan for salvation and redemption. Check out Sasi's answer. She gets my vote.

Yes, it in the bible. Everyone speaks in tongues when they recieve the Holy Ghost. Everybody in the bible did. Just don't let people mess you up with the gift of tongues. Thats different. Thier are tongues that. Just read Corinth. It talks to the church at Corinth about spiritual gifts. Most importantly the part that says " Forbid them not" for tongues is a sign unto the unbeliever.

According to I Cor 12, that is one of the manifestations of the Spirit
According to I Cor 13, Speaking ing the tongues of angels or of men, without love, and you are just a noisy gong or a clanging cymbol

In other words, Tongues are a fine gift. Just get your priorities right. Love is a greater expression to others. Fellow Christians that do not speak in tongues are no less saved.

If you don't know Jesus as your Lord and personl Savior, you need to know him. He has been in my life since I was 10 years old. I am know 28. He is my top priority in life. I don't know what I would do with Jesus in my heart.

The Lord graciously gave me the gift of tongues about 34 years ago. It is a wonderful way in which to talk with the Lord.

Spiritual gifts such as speaking in tongues, healings and prophesy were gifts given to the Apostles and those the Apostles gave the gifts to. Once the Apostles passed away those spiritual gifts ceased to exist. The disciples who received the gifts from the Apostles could NOT pass them on to others.

No one alive today has these spiritual gifts. Anyone who claims to be able to "speak in tongues", heal others by touching them or prophesy about the future, is simply putting on a show similar to an illusionist.
