people peging their jeans and saftey pinning them
the chicks with the garden weasle hairdo where just that bit in the front was sticking up
people pulling their socks over the bottom of their pants
guys wearing half shirts and thinking it was cool
boy george yick!
feathered hair
collars up
pastel colors on guys - too femme
gummy shoes on chicks
neon color accessories like those big belts and shoes that matched them and earrings that matched both
boatneck sweaters that were off the shoulder
oh tails I remember tails just those nasty bits of hail that some rednecks still sport
and steps cut into the back of someones head those were nice too
pretty much the whole damn decade.
the music is still good though and I would still wear parachute pants if you gave me some.

Personally....
1) The incredible layers of eye makeup I wore---blue eyeshadow, mascara and eye liner. I still wonder how I ever opened my eyes.
2) High blood pressure jeans---my jeans were so tight when I took them off at the end of the day there was a seam running down my leg--thus, my blood pressure must have went up 20 points.
3) Huge loose shirts that hung to our knees and we cinched with a belt.....hummmm thus, covering up those tight jeans.
4) I am 5'2" tall, but when my hair was ready for school I was close to 5'8"....the hairspray!!!
5) The shoes were not cheesy! I loved my '80's shoes.....
6) leg warmers or tucking socks into the jeans.....OHHH and the mix and matched colors..
7) Earrings the size of wind chimes!!!
8) Some of the music....
You know at the time we really thought we were so super cool...I mean TOTALLY!!! The '80's were some of the best years of my life, and now that I am older I see those days for what they were -- LOTS of fun....
The very cheesiest that I see though is some of the women my age that are still there....Yikes at least I grew up.

Sounds like the 1986 remake of "Invaders From Mars". A boy sees a meteor crash in the hills behind his farmhouse. The unseen aliens take over the bodies of the kid's parents. Little by little the towns people are taken over by the aliens. No one believes the boy except his school teacher (Karen Black). Together the boy & his teacher try to get to the bottom of this invasion to save the world. One disturbing scene in the movie involves the school principal getting caught eating a dead bullfrog from the science lab.

Mullets and other forms of "big hair"...guys looking like transvestites....neon pastels....bad "techno-pop-dance" music, as a result of the appearance of MTV, when making the video trumped making quality music.....oh yeah, and "valley girl" talk.
Man, did I HATE the 80s!

I think I have to go with opposing scrunch socks in 2 different colors. Pink on the top on the left foot, white on the top on the right foot.
Or the giant hole in the ozone from all my hairspray. That and (living on )a prayer was all that was holding up my bangs 5 feet in the air.

At the time, it seemed ok...but the whole style of the 80's reeks. Feathered hair cuts, bangs, leg warmers, head bands, members only jackets, pastel colors, acid washed jeans. The music was great though.
