That's a good question that I struggle with a lot. You know that God gives us free will and I think the devil makes it so easy for us to go the "easy" way, which is a lot of the time the wrong way. We are human and very suseptible to temptation and wanting to do things our way. The walk with God is a spiritual battle. He doesn't promise it will be easy, just that he will walk beside us and give us strength if we ask. But I know what you mean, it isn't easy.

It is hard to be obedient to his words because many people dont really believe in God, they just think they do but they dont. We dont know why we believe in God. When you ask people why they believe in God, they cant really come up with a good answer, because they are just doing what they are taugth or what they have seen without even thinking about it.
Second reason is that human is not a perfect creature, which necassarily means that we have to make mistakes, otherwise we would be perfect.

Do you believe in parents?? Im sure everyone has disobeyed their parents at one point whether it be a big or small thing. Thats what God is. He is our Father. He gives us rules and sometimes people don't like them and break the rules...just like with our parents. Alot of times we really try to obey his word but since we are humans we are sinful by nature and none of us are perfect. We just have to try our best. God know that we can't live by His word down to the last letter. If we mess up we just need repent.

The King James translation says, "thou shalt not kill." Other newer translations use the verb "murder". So, either killing and murdering are exactly the same, or one version of God's word is wrong, and if it's wrong in this particular, the whole book is in doubt.
Things like this and the fact that there are so many contradictory interpretations of the same book make it difficult to decide which version of the "word of God" you are to obey.
Stick with the Great Commandment and do your best. Regrdless of the Bible, you will come out ahead and so will those you encounter.

God has had different words for different people at different times.
Perhaps you are trying to be obedient to the wrong instructions?
The one who cited Romans 7 is correct.

Theres one thing in the world that everyone lacks. Obedience. If everyone just listened to Him, the world would be a better place. I hope this answer resolved your question.

There is a spirit flowing within us all that is perfect and the part of God in human existence. From this flow we 'know' what is right for ourselves and sometimes this just seems to be at odds with what others' ideas of his word appear to be. Which is right to follow? Follow your own heart in all things...it knows.

The risen Lord appeared to Saul on the road to Damascus and yet what did he say: Jim
Romans 7:17-20
Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

Because his standards are too high. In the old testament he punished man for not living up to his standards. By the time of the new testament he realised that Man could not live up to his standard although they would remain the ideal
so he sent his son to live those standards for us and to pay the price for not living up to those standards once and for all so that we will never see the old testament wrath of
God again
But if we ask for his forgiveness in the name ofhis son we will be forgiven for not meeting those standards.

I do not say this with a smile, but sin is fun. We need to be in constant contact with the lord to beat back our flesh. A little prayer goes a long way.
