I'm going to high school this year and want to lose some weight. About half of the girls in my grade are real skinney and only a few overweight girls, which includes me. I weight 160-164 because it goes up and down thourgh the day. I keep thinking that i don't hear about alot of African Americans that are anorexic. I went on some websites for i can become one, and i got some help. I have been drinking watere only for the past 12 hours trying not to eat fatty foods. People say you will gain the weight back over time but as long as i know i loose about 10 pounds i would be happy. I have been exercising and i only see a diffrence in my thighs but i need help on my belly. And i think thats way im mit become anorexic.

I need help! Should I be Anorexic

Not only will you gain any and all the weight you would lose back---you will gain MORE. Let's say you starve yourself for a few days......then you will eat and eat SO MUCH that you will weigh 170 lbs. Then you'll starve yourself again....a few days later, you will eat and then weigh 175 lbs.

Anorexia is a MENTAL ILLNESS. You do not have it, that's why you will just get heavier and heavier by trying to starve.

QUIT IT. Eat less, exercise more. LESS---not starve. Stop the junk/fast food. Stop eating late at night. Get away from the computer and TV and go WALK. Walk, walk, walk....at least 1 hour a day. You will lose weight and it will stay off. Guaranteed.

you need help alright, but it isn't going to help you to become anorexic. Anorexia is a self perpetuating disoder, once you head down that road, few ever come back. Anorexia KILLS people. And while you think you can control it, girl, that is what every single one of those who go that way think, until it is too late.
Anorexia will not cause weight loss in any one particular part of the body, it will rob the entire body, not just of fat, but of muscle even bone tissue.
The ONLY WAY to successfully and safely lose weight and tone the body is thru a controlled calorie diet and daily exercise, there is no fast, easy and safe method other than that. So, grow up a little, don't be stupid, and do what is best for your body, not for your social standing.

People can die from being anorexic. you are young and with self control you will be able to lose the weight you want to lose. Take your weight, multiply by 11. Now times 7. that is how many calories per week it takes to maintain the weight you now are at. a pound is 3500 calories. If you want to lose 2 lbs. a week, reduce your calories by 7000 for the week. There are other good healthy ways to lose weight also, but to keep if off 2# per week is recommended. a simple way only eat half of whats on your plate and eat only when you are hungry...most of us never feel real hunger...it's when your stomach growls or burns. Hope this helps. you can buy a calories book very reasonable, a small one at the grocery store or a more complete one at a book store. also www.dwlz (dotty's weight loss center) is a free website that has the calorie count of most of the fast food restaurants. another good website for good suggestions on good low cal foods and recipes is www.hungrygirl.com

Okay, first of all, you are slowly killing yourself if you become anorexic, trust me, I am speaking from experience, it isn't easy or fun, and it is not worth it. Because, you may lose some weight, but you all also lose muscle mass and your hair, if you want to lose weight, you need to watch what you eat and exercise and get plenty of water and enough sleep, do it the healthy way. You may even want to talk w/ your parents and see if they will do it with you, or even a friend, if you have someone to held you accountable for your health and weight loss it makes it much easier.

Please do not just stop eating, because then you lose your metabolism, and then you will not lose weight as quickly as you would like to.

Just be smart about this.

Please.

Good Luck

Wow...anorexia takes a lot of commitment...and isn't smart. Sorry, I know that was harsh, but you said you are starting high school this year...you'll have other things to worry about. Anorexia slows down your metabolism so much that you will either get fat or die after you get far into it. How about you keep drinking that water, but add some vegetables, fruits, grains, and some lean meat? Try to find a work out schedule that works for you, join a sports team or find an exercise that you enjoy. Every pound of muscle burns a certain amount of calories.

this must be a joke, honestly who WANTS to become anorexic. Why dont you go looking for heartbreaking stories of the pain people, friends and family ahve gone through because a loved one has developed an eating disorder. See what horrible things happen to you if you do develop this and consider how many people can die or become permanently harmed.

For goodness sake, open your eyes, think sensibly and if you need to lose weight do so in a healthy manenr with healthy eating an exercise

That would probally be the worst choice in your life! Ya know what happens when you are anerxic??? Once you lose all that fat your body has no warmth you go into shock. Your losing muscle as well so soon enough you will be able to do nothing. Your body NEEDs Fat and it NEEDS sugar maybe you were just oversupplying yourself before with it but just cut down on SOME sugary foods excersize TWICE a week not everyday. I have had so many friends die to anerxia its not even funny. Help yourself Don't do it!

PS. One of my friends had to go to the docters every week cuz the docter had to jab her with needles and stuff.
Guess what if you start starving yourself you won't be able to stop!

no, there are plenty of other ways to lose weight other than throwing up your food. I weight about the the same as you do but have lost 17 lbs and am still losing. I walk about 2 miles a day and eat 3 meals a day. I dont eat much in the morning (a granola bar) and for lunch I have like two cheese and crackers and for dinner I eat just a little bit also. Trust me, dont do it the unhealthy way. You have to eat to survive. Oh yeah and if you drink soda, STOP! Its the worst.

I know there is pressure to be skinny, but annorexia is not the way to go. You should do some research on that. Losing weight that way will do a lot more damage to your body and organs than it will do any good. You should diet and exercise. And by diet I mean eat healthy foods, not stop eating altogether.

DON'T BE ANOREXIC!

Anorexia is a MAJOR sickness, mentally and physically, and it could even land you in rehab.

If you only need to lose 10 pounds, why did anorexia even cross your mind?..

Just lay off junk food and sweets for awhile and make sure you drink 64 ounces (8 glasses) of water a day. It'll help, believe me. =]

And, for your belly.. Do crunches.

Good luck with your weight loss.. just remember- everyone is different.. and you're a girl-- not a toothpick. =]
