i told a joke about a midget and was called a racist. i though a racist was someone who differentiated with race and religion?

There are only THREE races in the world: mongoloid, caucazoid, and negroid. Midgetoid is NOT one of them. It is NOT a race, my friend. Please explain this to your less intelligent friends who made this comment. Apparently, your friend has watched Lord of the Rings a little too much and has decided that midgets ARE a race, and that they are very easy-to-throw.
Did you hear about the midget mind reader who escaped from prison? He was a small-medium at-large.

the "proper " word for a midget is littlepeople apparently.
and you would not be racist, you be predjudice.
and to be honest, i dont care because midgets are cool.
i think that the whole world is just too politically correct nowadays, because you cant even tell a joke without someone asking the point, why, calling you racist, and just not being fun anymore.

racisim is discrimination or prejudice based on race. who ever told you that you were a racist because of that joke you told is clearly an idiot and you should distance yourself from them because contrary to popular belief stupid is contagious. now....the fact that you told that joke i can see why that person took offense because one the term midget is a derrogatory word and not only that it is very rude.most would be perfered to be called little people or dwarfs. little people at one time were exploited in freak shows and that word was thrwn around quite a bit. and altough it might not make too much of a difference to you it does to them. that word holds as much power as the n word or any other racial slur there is . just think before you speak.............duh.

How ignorant half these answers are.This site is attracting such uneducated people who don't know the simplest of meanings and want to criticise for the sake of it.'Midget' is certainly not racist,nor is it insulting.Calling them 'little people' is far more rude and patronising.Midget is even more polite than 'dwarf' with it's Disney connotations.Get some education ! Here endeth the lesson !P.S. I'm 6'5" tall and am not at all offended by being called a GIANT !(and many other things!)

If you want to refer to a person who is small for age, the correct term to use is a 'person with acondoplasia'. Others may not know what you're talking about, but that's you chance to educate them.
But I find that calling them midgets or dwarves, and fat persons fatty, and disabled people spastics, and the French frogs gives me such a delicious sense of superiority and the ability to give the proverbial 2 fingers at those PC police. We don't care about other people's tender feelings. After all we are the Brits!!

You are right of course, it was not racist.It's the PC brigade that started this they don't want you to call people by their real description..midget, bald, mentally handicapped,spastic.
I don't care I will call a spade a spade, I'm politically incorrect and proud of it.
I will not however insult people of any race,creed etc I just use the words that we used 30 years ago before the PC lot stuck their unwanted noses in.
