Since Congress is determined to shove some kind of amnesty plan down our throats whether we want it or not, could we do better?
Hypothetically,if you had to come up with a "compromise" bill, one that has some allowances for a path to legalization, what would it be? Let me know your ideas. Here is mine:
1.The borders must be secured first.
2.Anyone here illegally has 30 days to register with no fines or fear of deportation at this time. But,if they do not register, can be deported after the thirty days if found.
3.Once they are registered, they are given a 90 day temporary visa. During this 90 days,a complete background check will be done, they must get a physical exam at their expense and show proof that they are employed.
4.If all the checks show good health, employment and no criminal background, they will then be given a temporary 1 year working visa during which time, they must file to become legal. If the background checks, health or employment do not check out, they will be given 60 days t

to get their affairs in order and leave the country.Fines will be paid at this time when they file to become legal. They can file for legality for their immediate family only, spouse and minor children.
5.No benefits will be given during these temporary periods, including excluding any babies born during this time for automatic citizenship. That can be done when they officially apply to become legal.
6.Those who chose not to register or follow the rules can be deported when found.Their immediate family would also go with them.
7.They cannot sponsor any outside family members until they become a legal citizen and have a means to support them

This is just a basic thought, many other details would have to be put into it.

What are your ideas?

No health care, no education, no amnesty, no guest-invader program. Fine employers who hire illegals, jail Americans who assist them. Empower the Border Patrol, build fences, eliminate sanctuary cities, ensure cooperation of interior enforcement. Fire any politician that tries to subvert this system.

We don't need no new stinkin' plan. We need to do what we did prior to the last twenty years. The American people should get to decide who gets in and under what circumstances.

Have US citizens volunteer to be agents for border patrol. But they can only be accepted with:

1) Original Birth certificate
2) Government Issued Identification
3) Proof of Residency in the state they live in
4) No record of Felonies and depending upon the misdemeanor (stealing in any form is wrong and if they are offered money, that may be motivation to let people in)

Then, make them take ethics courses. We don't want them to treat people inhumanely. Just use the necessary force to get and keep the illegals out.

Also, it should be a crime not to report everyone in your household to the census, what do you have to hide?

If someone is pregnant and a citizen somewhere else, neither the husband nor the wife should be able to travel to the US.. it should include couples of any kind. Easier to avoid anchor babies this way. It should be under the same guidelines as someone with a communicable disease (not that children are, but should be enforced the same way)

The employer will be fined 20% of their yearly earnings for hiring illegals and/or keeping them within their employment after the visa has expired. If it is found they did not perform a background check to see the legality of the SSN, depending on the number of violations, the following should happen (1) 20% penalty for the first offense (2) suspension of business license for two months or until a background check can be run on all employees for the past decade (3) completely shut down the business and send the owner to criminal not federal prison. That should keep employers from hiring illegals.

Everyone needs to be held accountable and actually lend a hand. Keep the jobs for legal citizens. If they don't mind working for low wages, WHY ARE THEY HERE? They can just stay where they are.

Securing our borders is always good, but everyone (the government included) is missing the point. The Pew Center did a study on why immigrants came here, and it's as simple as our prospering economy. In America, immigrants would earn twice as much as they would in Mexico for the exact same job.

There's nothing we can do about that except to compromise our economy a little bit. Like NAFTA has done, the US will sadly have to drain some of its economic power into Mexico to solve this problem,

Of course, if Mexico is great, then the rest of Latin America will immigrate there. This perpetuates the problem, but there is a way to try and help all of Latin America.

If we really go to the root of our problem, we find that it isn't just Mexico, but all of Latin America. There is something called Plan Pueblo Panama that would support the poorest parts of Latin America and Mexico, but it was originally conceived to counter Hugo Chavez's influence in Latin America. If it works, then we put down Hugo Chavez a bit as well as help to solve our problems.

Security might plug the hole a bit, but the flow is as strong as ever, because until we can stop poverty in Latin America, the problem will continue.

Your plan is pretty damn good and fair. As you pointed the #1 step is to secure the borders. It wouldn't make sense to pass Immigration laws without having our borders secured (both borders). Also, we need more border patrol agents. As far as calling this Amnesty, if they will be penalized for their status ($5000 fee) then it can't be called Amnesty. So your plan would be considered Amnesty because on your point #2, you wouldn't fine them. So all I would say is, if you change line #2 to give them a penalty to pay, which would be a good idea, then you would have to give them more than 30 days to register, something like 90 days would be fair.

I can.

Put employers who hire illegals in prison, five years hard labor for each illegal hired. No early release no parole.
Put school officials in prison for enrolling illegals.
Put hospital administrators in prison for treating or admitting illegals.
Put landlords who rent to illegals in prison.
Put real estate brokers who sell to illegals in prison.
Pay $1000 to anyone reporting any of the above people as illeagal supporters.

Put up a toll booth at the fence at the mexican border and charge illegals $2000 to leave the USA

Better plan:

1. Slam the borders shut.
2. Ship the illegals out.
3. You want in, sign the guestbook and wait your damn turn. If you have no skills or will become a leech on our society, don't even bother.

I have a simple, cost-effective way to solve the problem.
1. Send ALL illegal aliens to mexico.
2. Make mexico the new United States parking lot.
3. Have a cup of tea.

Americans can come up with a better plan. Here is my Plan
secure the Borders First. After two years, if Congress can show our Borders are secure, then they can try to work on a
New Immigration Bill.
