ok... so the bible tells us that as human beings we are sinners, and thus fall short of the glory originally intended for us in the beginning. however, as humans, or any other living creature for that matter, although we do have free will, we were never given the choice to be born.

that being the case, it was not my fault that i was born and thus not my fault that i am a sinner. why should i have to repent for something i had no control over? what it essentially boils down to is me having to repent for something that god did.

what say you?

I will be honest with you, that is a question crossing my mind in the past too.

I can't exactly figure out how from "it was not my fault that i was born" you got to "not my fault that i am a sinner"?

Let's say I give you a nice sports car for free. It' on your name, you have your driving license in no time and start driving your 560 horse power madly at high speeds close to a crowded area just so they can admire how brave you are, loose control and kill 10 people. What do you think the judge will say then? "The donor of the car is to blame" ?

I guess not.

P.S.: Your question just got a star of my behalf.

Yes as a human being we are born with sin already having a choke hold on us.
But from the time you are born you are in control of your own actions.
Have you ever lied? Tell the truth now.
Have you ever taken anything that was someone elses?
For almost all people the answer to both these questions is yes. That makes you a lying theif. God didn't make you a lying theif. So you can't blame Him for your sin.

Excellent point. I personally don't believe in the Christian God, or any previously established god at all, so all of these rules that have been instituted to hold people back from responding to environtmental stimuli and go against natural mammalian behaviors are not applicable to me. But I also think original sin is more of a Catholic things but I can't be sure. It's been a long time since I graduated from Catholic school. But you know what? I wouldn't even worry about it if I were you. Not worrying about religion has made my life so much more easygoing. I'm happier this way.

We are not born into sin. We suffer consequences of the sin of Adam and Eve but we are not guilty of their sin. A child who has not learned the difference between right and wrong is not a sinner and is holy (or set apart for righteousness) in the sight of God. When we reach the age where we understand the difference between good and bad, we have the option to follow God's plan. Again, we have to deal with the consequences of our choice but you don't have to repent or do anything else God ask of you. It's totally your choice.

Its no longer which you ought to repent for being born yet because of the fact we've been born into sin and as prevalent the devil is busy. God died so as that we would be saved and that our sins may well be forgiven. you're given the prospect precise now to no longer sin with the help of following God. The devil will use anybody he can to bypass against God and the regulations of God. The bible says be he holy. you may save on denouncing God yet you and all who experience the way you do will sooner or later experience the raft of God and it would be to previous due. no count number what number cases your question is replied you will nonetheless say it has no longer been replied. attempt asking God to furnish you from the detest you have and supply you the information and records you like as to why we ought to constantly repent and be saved to have eternal life. for sure that must be doing the perfect factor however the devil have you ever so wrapped up which you may't see what's nice and what's incorrect.

You say for something that God did, friend, God did nothing to cause you to be a sinner, in fact he done something so you won't have to live in sin, He gave his only begotten Son to shed his blood for all sinners, In Adam & Eve God created everything to have eternal life, But it was woman that yielded to the serpent, & not God. So if you are looking at someone to blame, put the blame On satan because he is the once that inticed the serpent to have that relationship with Eve to bring forth Cain. I see you are so concern about you can not help you were born a sinner, that is true with everyone, But we do have a way to escape, & that through his Son Jesus Christ.

Actually, I don't believe in original sin. It is NOT Biblical. What I DO believe, however, is that we are all born with a sinful nature, and that EVERYONE, at some point in their life, sins. Even the sins we commit before we know better are still sins; although if a child dies, they're not held accountable for that sin, unless they knew better when they did it.

So when a person repents, it isn't for their existence, which they couldn't help. It's for their sinful nature, and for every sin they've committed.

Doug, very good question. From your cartoon caricature it looks like your a black man? I'm white and well into my fifties. Was raised a Roman Catholic. Catholics teach at Mass a prayer to six and seven year olders. It goes, "Oh Lord I'm not worthy to receive you, say but the word and my soul shall be healed." Jesus on the other hand said, "Suffer the children, for there's is the reign or kingdom of God." I ain't that young anymore. I've never figured that crap out?? Some body's got something wrong????

Of all the creation, God gave us alone the ability to choose whether we will live by His laws or by whatever values we assign to ourselves for our own satisfaction. God's laws are not mere duties, but He designed us so we will become most happy, satisfied and fulfilled by doing what He says. Since God made us, He knows what is best for us. He gives us instructions that will benefit us.

Man is not a mere puppet in God's hands. We have the choice of whether to do what He says or not (Deuteronomy 30:19). We can either recognize Him as the Creator and Lawgiver of the cosmos, or we can deny that He exists. We can choose to live a meaningless life or a life with purpose.

If we exalt ourselves by imagining that we are the highest form of life in the evolutionary process, we in reality are robbing ourselves of the priceless value God places on us. Our existence and future are devalued from being sons of God to being only one of many species of animals. It's a tragic thing to substitute the cheap feeling of self-importance for the priceless privilege of becoming God's own children, of sharing the awesome universe with Him in glory and immortality.

If you are a Bible reader and student of it, thats great. What you need to repent of is "sins" and accept Jesus as lord and savior. Ask Jesus to fill you with the Holy Spirit. Any time after this that you sin, confess it to God and repent of it.
