Why is there a global warming category when there is no proof that there really is a global warming problem?
But if I understand the theory behind global warming, there isn’t anything we can do about it.
Taking in the fact the when it rains, it breaks down rocks and other minerals that have salt content.
This will increase the oceans temperature no mater what we do; this has been going on since the beginning of time.

Because unfortunately the media has convinced most people that there is a consenus.
Despite the growing number of scientists who don't believe humans are causing it, the media keeps hyping up stories about certain doom and what must be done. And then you got celebrities....of course if they say it then it must be true. Despite the fact that most of them live in amazingly inefficient glass houses while they're throwing these stones....

"Why is there a global warming category?"
Because people find it important.
Why is there a global warming category when there is no proof that there really is a global warming problem?"
There is proof.
"But if I understand the theory behind global warming, there isn’t anything we can do about it."
There is plenty that can be done.
"Taking in the fact the when it rains, it breaks down rocks and other minerals that have salt content."
Yes.
"This will increase the oceans temperature no mater what we do; this has been going on since the beginning of time."
You are mysteriously miss informed. Please provide links.
Psych0Bug, maybe you learned how to read in high school? If you did, take a second look at my clearly structured responses to your questions. You will clearly see that it says "Yes", when you ask if that's true. As, I assume, you are well aware of, it was the question where you claimed that increased salt content mysteriously raises the water temperature.
Oh, I see: you have invented a new way to heat water. Is this how you cook at home? Simply add salt until it boils? Seriously, wake up.

Because there is global warming. Thus, Global Warming category. It's really quite simple if you think about it.
There's no proof of it of course. But no one ever said there should be. The point of science is to give an early warning, rather than just waiting until the facts are obvious to everyone. If we sat around for a while you would definitely get the proof you're looking for, but it would come a day late and a dollar short. So what we have to do instead is act on the best evidence science has to offer us. And that evidence says that global warming is both real and a problem.

"But IF (emphasis added) I understand the theory behind global warming..."
Ah, there's the problem. You don't understand.
By your logic, if it's not real, Yahoo! shouldn't include it as a category. If we assume the people at Yahoo! are using the same type of reasoning, then the fact that Yahoo! includes global warming as a category MUST mean it is true. [WOW! You've just helped to prove the existence of global warming!]
If they don't think like you, then they can include categories that aren't "proven", whatever that means.
BTW, the rate of "natural" global warming, if there is any, is miniscule compared to the potential for man-made global warming. Besides, wouldn't the melting of polar ice caps dilute the mineral content of the oceans? Basic Science 101....

There's plenty of proof. And there is plenty we can do about it.
But that's not the point. The point of having a global warming category is to have this very discussion. It's an opportunity to debunk all kinds of myths, like the ones you're using right now.

The category is here because there's enough interest to warrent a specfic forum category.
It attracts two types of people. One are those who are intelligent and well-informed enough to recognized that global warming and its human origins is proven scientific fact and wish to discuss the issue in an intelligent manner.
The other (unfortunately) are ignorant fools who make idiot statements because they lack even a basic knowledge of science or are too intellectually lazy to find out what the facts are.

It's apparent you don't understand the theory behind global, if you did then you'd be only too aware that there are things that we can do, similarly you'd be aware of the proof that there really is a global warming problem.
Do you now...
a) Admit you know don't know much about global warming
b) Admit you're contradicting yourself
c) Redeem yourself by validating your claim by finding just one single credible scientific source that proves that there is not a global warming problem.
The ball's back in your court.

By your logic, there should be no religion category as well. If I understand the theory behind religion, we are all going to hell except for the devout catholics, so why is there even a Yahoo Answers page, if the true and only answer is our lord and savior Jesus Christ. Nice question, Jacka$$
