Strange question I know, but I think a friend of mine may have passed away and I have no way of finding out. I've been desperately searching for public death records but I can't seem to find any. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi I would post a message at genealogy.com on the Ireland country site.. Also search that area for an obit alot of volunteers post obits just in case someone is looking for that person. You can also do a death search at The Latter day saints site to be sure they have passed and not just moved.. Good luck

if you are not related then you can't get official death records. you'll have to rely on newspaper articles or mutual friends. so check out all the newspapers in that area.
also set up a google alert with the person's name and see if you get anything

google their name and the word "obituary". Sometimes the Irish ones show up online. Good luck.
