go to a podiatrist. they deal with these problems and they will give you special soles called orthotics to help your legs straighten up and relieve the pain without further uncomfort

While I am in the US and do not know where to find these in the UK, I will tell you my personal solution anyway.

My metatarsal arches were dropping and the pain was fierce.

I went to a Happy Feet store here (I do not know if you all have them there or not) I got hard molded arches. They insert into any closed shoe. They were about $50.00 about 8 years ago and are machine washable and I am still wearing the original pair.

It takes a day or so until you stop noticing them. But once you get accustomed to them and the pain stops you will not be able to do without them.

I wear sandals without them most of the time in the summer with no pain, but wear tennis shoes or loafers in the winter with them and have had no pain since I got them.

Call around the quality shoe stores and see who carries them.

They are a hard molded arch that fits from the heel to the base of the ball of the foot. Covered with a thin layer of fabric.
Fifty dollars seemed like a lot but after 8 years it was a bargain. They still look like new when I throw them in the wash.

Good Luck.

You could ask your podiatrist about Subtalar MBA Implants. I have them and they fixed my flat feet 100%. There's only about 4-5 weeks recovery time and you never have to have them taken out. I would highly recommend looking into it.

Have you visited the podiatrist? Maybe they can prescribe you some orthodics and there are some specific stretches you can do to help it.
