But I want to know this-Why is it that I never hear any islamic people denounce the violence and suicide bombings? To this day I have NEVER heard 1 muslim say anything? Why is that? I have heard them say bad things, but never anything else? You would thnk that people would be saying 'no, this is not what we believe in or this is not Islam, these people are bad' but no, nothing! This is not meant to be sarcastic or hateful as well, so please do not tale it that way. But can muslims understand why narrow minded people might tar them with the same brush because of this? I also take the point that it is not up to everyone to spologise for the minority-fine. But a religion that is proud and righteous surely would want to try and disassociate from these evil factions/

Javed I-I am in complete agreement with you, hence I don;t use the wod 'terrorist' lightly. But the press here seems to report most things I think. I have seen reports from all sides, especially on programs such as Newsnight etc.

Jennifer_yes but it doesn't suprise me that you don't see it in the states, isn;t your media pretty much controlled by one company? Plus you are really patriotic, always waving flags! In the UK we are not like this, the media always try and rubbish anyone for anything, the royal family, politicians. They would always uncover a scandal, maybe not at 6pm but on Newsnight etc.

80% of world moslims are against terror and bombings etc...but you can't hear that, To hear that you have to switch the channels you watch and have another perspective, don't rely on what the media gives you but rely on your mind and heart and follow the truth.don't wait to be served and serve yourself. being served is great but you will only get what the server wants.

wake up!!

I don't know where you live and how free your press is.
If you are from UK or US, your media is not at all free and it comes as no surprise to me that you have not come across any denounce from Muslims.
In fact, almost all the Muslims head of states have denounced terrorism, suicide bombing etc. It is definitely not at all in line with teachings of Islam. All major religious scholar, including the Imam at Kaaba (you may equate him with Pope) have denounced such acts.
But let be realistic. If someone starts bombing you, killing your brothers, sisters, parents in front of you, for how long will you tolerate????
If you are a logical person, please consider just these two facts:
1. In WTC, less than 5000 people died. In Afghanistan, about 5000 people are killed by Americans every month. To what extreme the revenge must be taken? And who is extremist?

2. In Iraq, no WMD were discovered. But so far, over half a million Iraqis have been killed.

Remember, a large proportion of deads were ladies and children.
So what should they do? Just sit and see other people die and wait for their own death?

Please consider them also as human beings. Please give them the right to live. Please.

I appreciate your question and i understand that it is difficult to understand something that you know little about. but Islam is a religion of Peace in fact the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was probably the most peaceful person in the universe but i don't know whats coming to this world. I mean have you never heard that when Prophet Muhammad came into Jerusalem he encouraged all Jews, Muslims and Christians to practise their faiths side by side. Muslims believe that those who believe in one god are people of the book.

But Muslims are trying all they can to reduce this terrorist it is just people who misinterpret Islam including Muslims and they listen to corrupt people - the problem can only be solved by knowledge if people were knowledgeable then maybe people would become more tolerant, respectful and understanding of each other.

I for one believe that killing innocent people is wrong and also committing suicide is wrong too. I believe that violence is the last resort.

Hey, I think because the media has not actually shown those people. I have muslim friends that denounce terrorism. Islma doesnt promote terrorism i know that for a fact and believe it or not many people in the middle east and muslim priests denounce these actions. It is sad that we only see one side of this story. Remember as wel these terrorists are not representing Islam even if they say they are because how can they represent something that they are going against? Islam, like most religions, promotes rigteousness but the people we see on the media like terrorists dont follow it while a lot of muslims are againts these terorists. And keep in mind of the crusades? Aah...see a pattern? although christianity doesnt promote evilness as well.

Islam in Arabic does not mean peace but submission. If Muslims say they are a religion of peace let them explain the following.

In Sura 2:216, Allah, their God, is supposed to have said this to Muslims: "Fighting is prescribed upon you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that you love a thing, which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth and ye know not."

Here we see some reluctance on the part of Muslims to fight; but Allah tells them, "I know what is good for you."

There are many Suras in the Quran, which prove beyond doubt that Islam is a religion of violence. Islamic Fundamentalists have used these teachings to justify their actions. Jihad is not a one-time event. It is a continuing operation until the entire world is converted to Islam.

"Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, … nor acknowledge the Religion of Truth, from among the People of the Book [Jews and Christians]" (Sura 9:29). Anyone who thinks we can achieve a lasting peace in the Middle East needs to have his head examined.

Muslims say that these Suras apply only during the time of Muhammad. But the Quran does not explicitly or implicitly say that. In fact, Islam divides the world into two houses: The House of Islam and the House of War. The goal of Islam is to dominate the world and Muslims believe they are justified in using violence to achieve this goal.

Of course, there are many Muslims who do not subscribe to the literal interpretation of the Quran. I have known many Muslims and I know the majority of Muslims just want peace and the well being of their families.

What Islam needs right now is a reform movement. There are many traditions and teachings of Islam, which are no longer relevant today. Women's rights and religious intolerance are just two, which come to mind.

Unfortunately, Christians are also guilty of sins against Muslims: prejudice, racism and fear. We are often separated from our Muslim friends because of them.

Still, we must witness to our Muslim friends about Christ, the Prince of Peace, whose love surpasses all misunderstandings.

Peace and blessings!

We ARE denouncing it..! But some western media picks clips of stuff and reflects things as they wish.

It's the weapons dealers and oil corporations that stir up terrorism and trouble, and feed on the resulting alienation that occurs because of such.

Suicide bombers and those who commit and support terrorism will go to hell. I'm muslim and my religion says that killing a man for no reason is like murdering the entire mankind, whereas saving one life is like saving all.

I hope that clarifies islam's approach on such matters.

And those haters who bash islam, you are not even christians, no real religious person would hate the way you do. Is this what your religion tells you - ignorance and hate?

Islam is not extra violent than Christianity or the different faith. that is not any longer the religion, yet extremely guy using faith as an excuse. seem to history to work out the violence projected via the international interior the call of religion and God, against people who have been unbelievers to their version of religion. thousands and thousands upon thousands and thousands of human beings have been exiled, tortured and murdered with the help of those religious zealots and the followers of Christianity have been between the worst. The Church of Rome does no longer tolerate any who did no longer consider them completely and diverse communities have been condemned as heretics and destroyed. seem up the decimation of the delicate Cathars interior the 12th century CE and spot how those people who sought to stay peacefully have been hideously massacred. religious intolerance isn't an illustration of a violent faith, basically of violent human beings in that faith. God's message is love, guy supersedes it with hate.

Hm, I was going to respond to this question by posting links to news stories in which Muslims were denouncing violence. However, when I did a search for them, I didn't find any really good examples. I know I've seen news stories like that, though.

Here is one example, but it is only talking about Indonesian Muslims:

They do denounce it. I don't know where you live (and that is not meant in a derogatory way) but the media that we have here does show the Islamic Leaders denouncing all the violent and reckless attacks. And they should, it's barbaric. We will one day reach a point where we will be able to identify Islamic Extremists separate to Islam just like we did with the KKK to Christianity. If you check your history books you'll find that the KKK constantly say they're actions are in the name of Christ but we all know that they are nutters and have nothing to do with Christianity, same as Islam.

There are many people all over the world practising islam, many sects (Shia, Sunni are just the 2 major sects) and subsects. However, one thing is for certain, not all muslims understand the Quran in the same way as other muslims. If you just take a look at the Quran, it contains loads of verses calling for the killing of infidels. Now not all muslims take the literal intepretation of these verses, but the muslims that do becomes what the media term as "terrorist". So what is authentic and what is not authentic islam? Its really hard to convince a literalist that jihad is unislamic because throughout islamic scripture, both Quran and Hadiths, there are tons of verses and stories justifying jihad. Islamic people, even if they don't agree to the violence, cannot denouce violence because the original source of islam, the Quran and the islamic hadiths say otherwise. That is to say, they cannot use islamic scripture to justify peace because these scriptures undeniably contains messages of violence that cannot be disputed.

You are so right We live in the states and have not heard any Muslim denounce 9/11 or any other terrorist act My parents told me that during the Cold War between the state s and USSR there was a Jewish couple that sold atomic secrets to the Russians. They were tried and executed. My point is that every Jewish group s and synagogues denounced the Jewish spies for the damage they did.
