Well, I dislike children but I love childlike, not to be confused with childish, behavior in adults.

The well-known quote from Corinthians says: "When I was a child I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man I put away childish things." I Cor. xiii. 11. Childish behaviour in an adult is boring and unattractive. If, however, you mean childish behaviour in a child, then even as children, we're expected to move on, ie., to behave in a way appropriate to our age - what's excusable at the age of 3, won't be excused at the age of 6. To be childlike, however, is a completely different thing; to be childlike is to have the ability to never tire of the wonders around us, to be trusting and to take delight in new discoveries.

There is an unspoken code that says children are allowed to be naughty occasionally because it allows them to learn right from wrong in a non-threatening way. However, the code also assumes that the child will soon pick up what it is supposed to do without abusing that 'licence'. 'Childish' bevaviour is any behaviour undertaken in the full knowledge that it is wrong - that is, the child can know it is wrong, the teenager knows it is wrong, the adult knows it is wrong but persists with it anyway. No this is not attractive in any sense.

The same goes for children behaving like adults.
i personally don't appreciate it.
Adults with childish behaviour are very difficult to deal with.
First, you are negatively surprised by their attitude. i personally stay speakless for a time. you do not expect them to behave in such a way.
Secondly, they are adults and children at the same time; a kind of cameleon personality. so you do not know how to respond to their behaviour and this is very destabilising and frustrating. if you talk to them as children, they might get hurt, become violent and agressive because their behaviour is usually unconscious.
Talk to them as adults; you just can't because their attitude and behaviour won't encourage you to treat them as adults.
This is the reason why i hate dealing with adults with childish behaviour. Especially if they are resentful and verbally agressive.
i think one shoud have genuine psychological skills to be able to deal with such people.

Do you mean childish behaviour in adults? If so maybe it's because as adults we expect other adults to act there age as well. We live in a world where we had to grow up and take on responsibility and maybe feel they need to also.
If you mean in children well,,, I have know idea...low or no tolerance.

I guess it all depends on where the childish behaviour is coming from because there's nothing worse than seeing an mature adult acting childish when it comes to a grown up situation.

Your question is slightly wrong.
Most of the people love children and 'like & expect' a childish behavouir from the children
Oppositely, hate childish behaviour from an adult.

i think it goes back to the saying 'children should be seen and not heard', and it depends on what mood ur in when my 4 are in a childish mood and i'm not i have to remember that i was once a child and they're only having fun, so i get childish with them and we have great fun lol, some people just haven't got a sense of humour those people shouldn't have kids!

Identifying children is fine but having childish behaviour with norules thrust upon you results in feelings of bewilderment and loss of control
If a person is behaving childishly you cannot reson with them you have to reson to the child within them that means talking down to them which results in feelings of folly and self consciousness for some
