They were small square artificial fruit flavoured chewy candy things. My old man used to get us each a pack on friday nights. Aaah the good ol days.

I can't believe you oaks still get Tutti Frutti's. I havn't seen them in SA since the end of apartheid. I was starting to think they had been taken away with the fascist bastards who used to run this country. I was confused though cause tutti frutti's are so sweet and lekker and the old government was well... not so sweet.

Childhood experiences are important in forming basic templates of simple tastes into things of life that later on play important role when we grow into seeking more serious things concerning our wellbeing.
There is no doubt that you liked your experience very much, so much so that you still have longing memories about it. Apart from Tutti Fruiti’s being a simple delight for you in your childhood, there are things more significant to note here. Tutti Fruiti’s, in my understanding, have helped you to build close and trusting relations with your 'old man', who use to get them for you on every Friday nights, who kept his promise for you to remember, which is great. You may get as many Tutti Fruiti’s as you like even today, but there is no denying of a childhood that would never come again.
Besides this, there is no philosophy here any deeper than the memory you cherish, but the moral or the story is that always teach your children how to expect good things, and how to stay true to your promises. Great stuff!

He is saying that she is popular, because she is a pretty girl EDIT: On second thought, since tutti frutti is all flavors, maybe he meant that her political views are wild and all over the place

I do. Do you remember Glees, they were small round fruit chewy sweets in a purple wrapper. They were my favourite as a kid.
