They looked to be flying at the same speed (I think it was around 30,000 mph), but being up in the sky we couldn't tell how far apart they were. Where do I find this information?

They started out together and then separated so the distance varied from0 to thousands of miles depending on when you were looking

Hi. First answer is correct. When I saw them (amazing sight!) they were about 6 seconds apart, maybe 40 miles or so.
