It is bad that he is wasting his time sitting there at the computer for 10-12 hours doing nothing but watching these cartoons. Some of them are actually bad and some are ok. I've seen plently in my life that I decided to stop because it was ruining my health. I actually feel healther now that I stopped watching those cartoons. I've been doing more outdoor stuff instead of being stuck in my room.

It isn't a problem watching cartoons, but you should be concerned of what cartoons he does watch. Like I said before some are bad too, some of those cartoon contain sexually stuff that isn't meant for 15 year olds minds, such as naked women, sex shots, naked boobs with nipples, women's vagina, etc. even when the show itself seems ok. You should be cautious.

As a solution, try and do some family time and get him away from the computer. Go outside, go to a park, go to the movies, get him to be with his friends, just get him away from that computer. It be ok if he watches it at times, but not 24-7.

I acted exactly how he was when I was his age (though youtube wasn't known at that time for me but still I was addicted to it) and now I'm 18 and out of that stuff. I feel much better being with my boyfriend and friends just playing hacky sack at the park or just driving around walking through Wal-Mart. I haven't watch those cartoons for an entire year now and when I do see them, I can't stand watching 20 seconds of it without being sick to my stomach. Those shows have can damage someone's health. It may not seem possible but it did for me. I swear I lost weight by not eating and just watching and watching, I was starving myself without even knowing it. I also become anti-social because all I wanted to do was to watch those cartoons instead of being with my friends. Since I stopped watching them, I've became very social and made new friends who aren't into that stuff.

As a parent, you should be cautious of what he watches and how much time he should spend on the computer. Yes he is a teenager and responsible, but what he watches could be bad. I wish my parents stopped me when I was his age, but they left me alone and I made myself sick and was in bad shape.

Like I stated before, that stuff isn't bad to watch, considering it's just cartoons, but watching it for a long time isn't healthy, and it could damage more than just his eyes, plus some are actually bad even if they don't seem like it. He can still watch them, but make it limited. Maybe 2 hours a day and on the weekends maybe 3, but don't try and be nice to him. I know it's hard but what he is doing isn't good for his health. He could become fat and lazy and spend all of his money on that stuff. Do you want that to happen to him? It may not happen but it could happen.

Be a good parents and get him more active to be outside or be with his friends, or be with his family. Maybe once he is old enough, have him get a part-time job, get him out into the real world so he can learn and be away from that computer. Don't let him be addicted to that computer, to those cartoons, it isn't right. I learned from my experiences, help him so he can learn and maintain a healthy life style.

I hope this helps you and you'll be able to get your son away from that computer and make his develop a healthy life style.

It could be an addiction but I don't think its a mental problem. He could just love what he's watching. However, you can limit his time online so he can do other activities like go outside and play sports. Maybe 1-2 hours a day is fine.

No problem. My son lived and breathed Anime until he hit about 17 years old. He is 19 now and the only time he even bothers with it is for the Anime convention in Dallas once a year. Now I really think he only goes there to meet the girls.

Anime could be addicting because it offers much than the original american cartoons on tv. It gives great stories but at times things could really get violent in anime..and at times there can be mature situations involved. Just talk to him or her.. and tell him that he or she must make good use of his or her time and not delve much on anime. And treat anime like playing a videogame for an hour or so..

People just find anime attractive because it's different. The drawing style is slightly different than America's, but beautiful. I don't think it's a mental problem. I can understand (and relate) if it's summer vacation, but if he has finals he should focus more a studying.

Anime is actually enjoyed by a wide range of people in many age groups. My father and I used to always watch Dragonball Z when it came on.

It's not a mental problem, and it is also something that can be curbed. You're his parent, so its your responsibility to set limits on how much time daily he spends watching anime on youtube. Its not really a big complicated problem, just set limits.

There is noting wrong with watching animaton, but spending 10-12 h a day is going over board. However, I think that it is an age fenomina and will pass with time. Best advise is to live him alone for a while he will get soon over it.

No problem except you should try to limit his computer time to no more than 3 hours a day. You should actually sit down and watch one with him ( that he chooses) and see, because they are pretty fun to watch and you probably may enjoy one. But remember a lot of teens watch this stuff and it may not be to interesting to a adult who has never watched any before.

I am an anime freak and so are my children. Be happy your son isn't doing drugs or drinking. Let him have his way and relax. Besides try watching an episode with him and then we can add you to the list of anime freaks.
