Any plant that you are not allergic to! They all give off oxygen and absorb toxic chemicals from the air.
A few considerations:
Do you have young children? If so, make sure the plants you get will not injure them if they touch or eat the plant.
Do you have pets? Many pets, especially cats, will chew on a plant, and some plants can make them very sick.
Do you have allergies? Flowering plants are great for mental health because of their beauty, but if pollen makes you sneeze, they are not a good choice.
How much time do you want to spend taking care of them. Some plants require frequent watering and/or feeding, while others can thrive with a bit more neglect. Some plants (such as African violets) need repotting fairly often and require special light conditions or special potting soil. Other plants are more flexible in their needs.
Talk to the people at your local garden center and tell them what your lifestyle is like. They are sure to have a few suggestions.
Other health considerations: Some plants have leaves or other parts that can be harvested for seasoning food (example = mint). Others have other medicinal properties -- a cut leaf from an aloe vera will stop the pain of a burn. But any plant is usually better than having no plants at all.
