This is definitely the best offense I've seen in my lifetime, I was wondering how many of you think this could possibly be one of the best offenses of all time when it's all said and done?
They currently lead the Majors in Batting Average, Runs, Hits, Doubles, RBI, Total Bases, Slugging Percentage, and OPS. That's every offensive category, excluding steals, except Home Runs (4th) Triples (2nd) and On-base Percentage (2nd).
The teams that are typically referenced as having the best offenses of all time are the '27 Yankees, the '61 Yankees, and the '76 Reds:
The '27 Yankees hit .307, averaged 6.29 runs, and hit 158 home runs
The '61 Yankees hit .263, averaged 5.07 runs, and hit 240 home runs
The '76 Reds hit .280, averaged 5.29 runs, and hit 141 home runs
The 2007 Tigers are on pace to hit .295, average 6.18 runs, and hit 196 home runs
And remember, back in '27 teams weren't nearly as close talent-wise as they are today

I understand that most of you probably don't know who anyone on the Tigers is and therefore aren't really capable of giving an intelligent answer so I will excuse this

And yes I understand there's been plenty of other great offenses besides the ones I mentioned but there's only so many characters you can use and I ran out so I decided on those 3. I suppose I could use the additional comments to list every great offense ever but frankly I'm just not feeling up for the task so I apologize
The 2005 White Sox had just a .262 average, only averaged 4.57 R/game, and hit 200 HR
You have to understand that the whole of the Tigers offense is greater than the sum of its parts. Just because they don't have 6 future hall of famers (they have 2: Pudge and Sheff) doesn't mean they aren't a great offense
What makes them so good is that they have such an unbelievably balanced lineup. The leadoff hitter (Granderson), the #8 hitter (Monroe), the #9 hitter (Inge), and a bench player (Thames) will all finish with 20+ HR. Polanco, Guillen, and Ordonez will all finish with batting averages above .320. That leaves Pudge, Sheff, and Casey. They're pretty good too.
