I don't like to put my purse on the floor; it's not clean. Most of the time I put my purse in an empty chair. I like to carry a small purse, when I know I will be eating out. Sometimes, I even leave the purse in the car with something over it discretely to hide it. Then I carry my car keys in my pocket.

You have to be careful with that. Once I hung my purse on my chair and my father was sitting across from me yet believe it or not I got my wallet stolen! The man that sat at the table behind me told the waiter he was waiting for a friend and he kept bumping up against the back of my chair. It was very annoying and I kept moving in closer to my table. The man kept making noises like coughing.. next thing I knew I heard a zipper and I thought that he was either a pervert, unzipping his pants at the table, or opening my bag. I grabbed my bag quite defensively and he was out the door in seconds. He was actually CLOSING my purse! He had already gotten in and taken my wallet and he was just trying to keep me from finding out anytime soon. I started going through my purse as my father ran out to find the guy but he was gone. It makes me mad till this day and it's been over a year. I now put my purse on the chair adjacent to me so that I can still see it, be careful when eating outdoors though where someone can run past and take it. Sometimes I put the handle under the chair leg and the the purse in between my feet, but the floor might be dirty. Otherwise hiding it in my car like the previous answerer is what I do when I am with my boyfriend. Hang it on your own chair if you like but make sure no one is seated too close to you and you might want to keep an eye on it.

Avoid putting your bag in your lap or on the floor as the floor tends to not be very clean. If I get a window table, I usually place on the ledge where I can see it and won't forget it - and it's also very hard for anyone else to reach for it. Barring that, I would get a smaller bag with a shoulder strap and wear it across my shoulder with the opening facing me on the side. This way, it doesn't interfere with my eating and won't get in the way of the waiter/waitress when ordering. Also, when you go out, it's a good idea to downsize especially with your ID and one credit/debit card so if it gets stolen with your purse, you don't lose everything at once.

It doesn't matter what place you're eating in, I never trust anyone with the exception of my sister.

Some resturants, clubs and pubs provide you with a clip to attach to the table so that your purse is not at risk of being stolen or tripped over.......

If not you could buy one sorry don't know where to get them though!!

Maybe someone else will know........

I ALWAYS place it between my feet if I am at a table. If I am in a booth (I usually sit on the inside) so, I put it between me and the wall. Good luck!!! I know, it's annoying!!!

I wouldn't put it in my lap, because you might accidentally spill something on it, and you might not be too comfortable. I put it down under the table, kinda near the side of my feet. That way you know where it is and it isn't completely in your way.

On your lap. I hope your purse or handbag is not huge. Or behind your back.

I tend to put mine under the table or on the floor close to my chair leg.
