God cannot be seen nor heard. He/She/It is a spiritual entity and does not appear to humans or to anything on this earth. However, I am convinced that this spirit that made the universe is somewhere out in space and who knows? Some day we may be able to see and hear God? I do not believe in the various religious books that discuss God and what God is looking for in humans. He created us and then walked away to create other things. Religion tried to explain what God is and what he has done and what he wants of us, but all religious books are so riddled with errors and imaginary events that it is very difficult for me to believe in any of them. After all they were all written by humans according to what humans know about life and spirit....which isn't much. One does not need a church or a temple to worship God. All the a person needs is to have God in his/her heart and very being and believe in God as the Almighty King of the Universe and everything will work out well.

To answer your question, I must answer in two parts: 1) That God and existence (or Being) must be the same thing and 2) that existence, Being, or God, cannot be "seen" the way a coffee mug can be seen, and yet can be seen in the sense that we all tacitly know/recognize that we exist, that we are.

1) God and existence or Being must be the same thing. While this could be made into a topic of its own -- and recognizing that the terms have very different connotations/implications --the point really is quite simple. If God wasn't existence/being itself, then God would either have created existence/being or exist within existence/being. It is logically impossible for anything to create existence/being since presumably that which is doing the creating already exists. And if anything at all exists, then existence/being already "exists." On the otherhand, if God exists within existence/being then God's being is dependent on existence for its own existence, and that contradicts the very definition of God.

Therefore, God and existence or Being must be one and the same.

2) Once we grasp that existence, Being, and God must be the same thing, then it becomes clear why God cannot be seen, and yet in a sense can be seen. Existence or Being cannot be seen -- the way a celebrity on TV can be seen, or a flower can be seen -- because the act of seeing can only see things that exist within existence, not existence itself. Can you point to existence, can you smell it, can you touch it? Yet we all know that things are. That is, existence can be "seen", in a sense, just by virtue of the fact that we exist. But it can't be seen as an object like a coffee mug or a blade of grass. Yet, if there were no such thing as existence, then we wouldn't be seeing anything at all. So existence is like a background that is so thoroughly taken for granted that most people completely miss it altogether, running around fascinated by all the things that exist within existence and completely oblivious to the mystery of being. Yet tacitly, they know it is.

All living beings, therefore, already and always "see" existence . . . which is just to say that all living beings already and always "see" God. But we don't directly see existence with our eyes, our minds, or even our souls, and therefore in this sense God cannot be seen.

To give a definition of God is a challenge. Karen Armstrong's excelent book, The History of God' is a good beginning. We can all experience an idea of God depending on what you mean by the term. Perhaps you are at the stage where you need to know what to look for.

It is impossible to see the psychical manifestation of God in our present state. We have to go through a cleansing stage and be completely purged of all sin before we set eyes on God.If He did appear in front of you, you would probably be blinded by His dazzling image which would be thousands of times brighter than the Sun.But that is not to say we can't see Him because we do every time we look at another person as one of His creations we see God in that person. This is probably very hard for you to understand because there is no explanation possible to explain it.

This is one of THOSE questions :) When I think of seeing God the first thing that I think of is the human eye. Think about it. How does the eye see? It's ironic to ask about seeing God and to talk about seeing with your eyes but if you study 'just' the human eye (wow). How amazing is that? I can't actually see God physically but his presense is of creation is all over :) Do it, take a minute and see for yourself how the eye sees and WOW yourself :)

If you see him why cant you sit down and have a coffee with him. I can understand believing in the faith but really??? To see him is going a bit far and if he is everywhere that doesnt actually mean you are seeing him does it?? So "no" I dont see him phyically and that is because he is not a living being

Yes, I saw God... in a dream. He appeared to me as a toll robust man with red hair and beard. He was dressed in Bavarian national costume. He had a hat with feather. And he was very merry, laughing and saying me something good.

I do not see God because I have not opened my eyes to faith and not covered my mind with faith. For the same reasons, I do not even know who God is. This means that even if I happen to see Him, I wouldn't know that I have seen Him....... unless He being omnipotent, as they say, decides for me to see Him and know Him.

God is in everyone you meet in the form of the Holy Spirit, but if you mean as a physical person its impossible to see him because he is a shapeless spirit (at least thats what they told us in catholic religion classes at my school though im baptist)
