most people don't "choose" to be gay. you don't choose who you feel attracted to, or who you fall in love with.
you can't walk into a bar, and then decide that you love all the women in the bar.. it's not a choice you make, it just "is".
Juliet has the notion that she can choose who to love in the early acts of Romeo and Juliet, stating to her mother that "her eyes will only wander where they are told to", aka, "i'll only love who you want me to love".. and her nievety is proven when she falls in love with romeo.. a man from the opposite house.
you don't choose who you love in any way, your sexuality is determind years and years before you actually start to feel attracted to anyone, and you can't just force yourself to like otherwise, in the same way you can't force yourself to like eating something that you don't (theres a difference between liking to eat something and forcing yourself to eat it).
the only difference is bisexuality, but in that instance, you still don't choose who you are attracted to, you just have a wider range of people to possibley get an attraction to.

I agree with Silver, I thought he made a great comment. I feel exactly the same way. I never chose to be gay, I always was. I guess it is going to take a long time and lots of education before the population have a good insight into homosexuality. I hate the word lifestyle because to me that suggests something you choose and I did not wake up one morning and say to myself, "Oh I think I will decide to be gay today". I have always loved men with a passion and have been loved in return.

Gays dont choose to be gay they are born like that, the ones that seem to choose later in life have just been scared of coming out before.

Both of my parents were heterosexual, I am a male/female Intersexual / Gay, my Genes / DNA are XXXY. I was as an Intersexual / Gay before birth, I was born with a penis so the doctor put me down as male.
No one chooses to be gay.
When we get a cure for heterosexual people to stop being heterosexuals, then at that time kids who are born with my Genes / DNA should be given the right to chose what sex we want to be.

A man or woman who 'chooses to be gay' is actually saying "I am gay and thats the way I'll live".
It's not easy to live such a life. You'll get abuse from every quarter. Words such as "queer, fruit, poofter" will be in the insults you hear every day.
Young gay people are much more likely to kill themselves than straight people.
It ain't a path of roses.

Some of us never chose to be gay, we are born gay thank you very much. The people who choose to be gay are bisexuals who think its great to have a man next to them in bed so they say "Heck I think I'd choose to be gay" because it's not so desirable for them to wake up to a woman.

Nobody will choose to be gay, usually it's the other way around. Or maybe they do so to avoid hassle and fuss. Like my aunt, she's in her forties and hadn't got a boyfriend and it's so unacceptable in my family. Then she lied to my grandma, saying that she's gay. Since then my family stopped nagging her.

My theory on that is if there is someone in their lives (IE MICHELLE) who is very flirtatious and very good with words they can fall for the lust. People CHOOSE to be gay as it can be safe and a fashion statement like a lot NOT MOST of people in South Africa.
At the end of the day they are not truly happy with themselves and are finding ways out.
I am a lesbian and it choose me... i am beautiful and naturally gay.

No one "chooses" to be gay - it's a myth propagated by the Right, just as no one can be 'persuaded' to be gay by learning about it in schools, etc.
