I loved it, but I can't watch it more than once every few months or it seriously bums me out. Very violent, gory scenes, a bit too realistic at times... if you are into WWII history then you might like it. It's got drama, action, blood & guts, love, and a cast worth watching again and again, if only for them. (sigh, I just love Tom Hanks!)
don't wanna spoil it, but there are some hilarious scenes in there too... particularly when they save the wrong private ryan... hahahahahaha

Great Movie! Opening sequence is hard to watch for some people due to the motion of the camera. But overall, a great movie.

I've seen it several times. Outstanding war movie, with a powerful message. I highly recommend it.
I also recommend Flags of Our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima.
