If a man had a vasectomy 8 years ago and wants to get it reversed to have more children, what are the chances of him being fertile enough to do this?

I know a man who had a VR after 15 years since his V. He and his wife got pregnant a year and a half after the VR. It CAN be successful. It depends upon your surgeon, how he heals up afterward, and then chances. I'd say the chance is pretty good but it may take some time. My partner had a VR last September 2006. We're still trying to have a baby. It was done a year and a half after his Vasectomy. Thankfully our insurance covered the costs. His surgery was successful based on the fact that his Semen Analysis' have come back better each time they were done. We just had a third SA done and we're waiting on the results. Hopefully things are even better now !! (keeping my fingers crossed!)

Good Luck to you and your partner!

the reversbility becomes less 5 after vasectomy,so after 8 years the chances of fertility becomes40%

Less than 50%. Many clinics will give you false hope in order to get you to sign up and pay for the surgery.

TESE (See below) is often more successful, but just as painful, and expensive.

You are better off just living with the consequences of his vasectomy. If you proceed with having children rather than face the consequences of his choice, then you are in no position to teach your future children about actions and consequences.

I heard somewhere that there is only about a 70% chance of a reversal working.

Slim to slimmer. When I had mine, the doctor asked me over and over if I was sure, due to the fact that even of it was reversed, there was a good possibility it would not be successful.

The same as a women reversing tubal litagation. It is possible, depends how successful the surgery is and age of the person.

Chances are good but no one can give guarantee about the success of the operation.

When my ex had one, they told him reversal wasn't good odds! Don't know if he ever tried, but he never had anymore kids. That was 10 yrs ago or more!
