Should I buy Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops?

Question

I just got a PSP and I'm looking for a good game to play, I've heard nothing but greatness from MGS:PO but I've never played a Metal Gear Solid game before. Is it a good enough game for newbies to the series to enjoy? Or is it made almost exclusively for fans of the series?

And if not, then what would be a good PSP game to get? I likes just about any given genre.

Metal gear solid is mainly for the fans of the series, I never liked it so I never played, but I can tell you, if you like RPGs, check

Furst off; don't get Metal Gear Acid or Acid2. I did and I regret it.

It's got a very diffrent way about it compared to other metal gear games. You have maps and missions, and optional missions. You won't know who any of the characters are, but that wouldn't matter for this game as it's only predisessor is Metal Gear Subsistance. (BTW if you own a PS2, and do NOT own Metal Gear Subsistance, then you are a /b/tard)
MPO is highly reccomended especially if you plan on playing the series in cronoligical order afterward.

VR mission games can fit almost anywhere, and I'm not sure (nor do I care) where Metal Gear Acid fits in.

I love Metal Gear so much it became my decideing factor in getting a PS3. Now I'm broke and have to give blood to pay my rent. THANK YOU SNAKE!

It is an excellent game, and it is exclusively for fans of Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid VR Missions, and Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty and Substance. You could play it, and it would still be pretty fun, but

1- you wouldnt understand the concept
2- you wouldnt know the storyline
3- you wouldnt know who is who
and 4- you wouldnt know how to play

I suggest trying Metal Gear Solid 1 or 2 Sons of Liberty to get the full effect of the game. But trust me, MGS fan or not, YOU WILL LOVE THIS GAME!

Ive had friends that hated MGS 1 and 2 and 3 and I got them to try PO and they loved it! one of my friends even bought a PSP, get this, JUST TO PLAY MGS:PO!
