A friend indeed is a friend with weed! JK! It's a line from the movie "Hollywood Knights!" I don't smoke - anything! Or, drink, or do drugs! I only do . . . . . . well you know what I do!

When you need a friend and he/she is there for you, he is certainly a friend because he doesn't betray or back stabs you. If you need help in something like homework or studying for an exam and your friend is there to help then that is a great friend

Nothing, I'm more for sarcasm and irony as opposed to metaphors, saying and riddles. I would probably just say, a friend in need needs a friend to be there for them...

What does that mean, indeed! :p

People in desperate situations do desperate things, and friends who only call when they need something are some kind of "friends"

To me that means your friend is in some kind of trouble, and they need you to be understanding in their time of need. Also I'd say its your shoulder their crying on and they need you to be there for them.
