The catfish could either be a Colombian (shark) catfish or a pictus - you can see photos of each here: http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/scateg.cfm?pCatId=1163 , or in the worst possible case, a channel catfish: http://www.elmersaquarium.com/10cat_channel.htm

The cat and the goldfish shouldn't be kept together - either of the cats will need warmer temperature than the goldfish would prefer as a coldwater species. And you need to keep in mind that a fancy goldfish can grow to 10-12 inches and the cats can go 10 inches (either the pictus or Colombian) to 24" (the channel cat - never mind that the link says 14", I had one that went well over that!). Also, if your cat is the Colombian, it need to be in brackish water, not freshwater as a juvenile, and full saltwater as an adult. Either of the cats will eat smaller fish as they grow.

At this point, you need to figure out if you need another tank because of the difference in requirements of the fish you already have and then decide what to put with them.

This link will help you figure out the variety of goldfish you have: http://www.kokosgoldfish.com/ftypes.html and fany goldfish should be kept only with other goldfish for best results. If yours is one with vision impairment (telescope eyes, bubble eyes, or celestial eyes), it should only be kept with varieties named above. If it doesn't have the vision impairment, it can be kept with other double tailed varieties, but shouldn't be kept with single-tailed varieties. This is because the vision and body shapes make some of these less able to compete for food against fish which may see and swim to food faster. This may be another issue with having the catfish in the tank.

The silver one is a Pitcus Catfish and the other is probably a Fancy Goldfish like an Oranda. The two cannot live in the same tank. Goldfish need cold water and Catfish need warm water. Get rid of the Goldfish (if that is really what it is) and you will have plenty of room. The catfish will get about 6 inches. You could add some nice schooling fish like Tetras, Danios, Rasboras, Rainbowfish, or Cherry Barbs (each need about 7 of their own species). Also, you should get a couple more Pictus Catfish. I don't know where you got the fish the first time, but don't go there again if you didn't know what it was when you bought it. A local fish store or even Petco or Petsmart would be good. NEVER GO TO WALMART TO BUY FISH! They have no idea what they are doing. You may also like Yo-yo Loaches. Check them out online and do not confuse them with Clown Loaches (CLowns get about a foot long, way too long for a 30 gallon aquarium. Yo-yos only get about 4 inches long). Good luck! Since going with the 1inch per gallon(not including the tail). You can add up to 26 inches more of fish of your choice.

Just asked the guy about it being:
1. Fin-Nippers
2. Semi-Aggressive
3. Aggressive
4. Non-Aggressive
5. What other fish are they are compatible with?
6. How big will they get when they get old?
7. How hard is it to take care of them?

The way the silver fish described is that you have a shark catfish.

I'm not for sure what kind of fish you have exacly but if you want to add some fish you can. Just be sure to check on the type of fish you get and see if they are compatible with the one's you currently have. There should be some info on the tanks when you go to the store. It will sqay if they are aggresive, non-agressive, or semi-agressive. It will also tell you if you can put those fish with another that is agressive, non-agressive,-or semi-agressive.
