I love it.
When we make decisions for money, the utility and happiness out of decision persists as long as that money is working.
Perfect example, I see my cousins here, they take decisions for money, they sell themselves, their principals, their ethics, they values for money.
They are the same people who are the biggest losers in life, they are the living examples before me that remind of never selling my conscience for money.

You should have thought of that before taking and spending the Money. A Promise is a Promise and I doubt you have the 20K to pay back if you renig, and honestly I do not think I would want to back out after spending the money, and end up in the Bottom of some lake...Think about it..

Maybe he will end up loving her?
I mean he can do whatever he wants you know. Marrying for money is just...nothing I think if he doesn't value the marriage that much...then it's ok
He needs to stay in the marriage until she can become citizen just to be safe for her. Keep in mind that if the immigration knows the marriage is a fraud, they can arrest your cousin or he might end up paying more than $20k

Most women (and some men) come to the States for monetary purposes and citizenship...they get what they want and return to their homeland. A little confused on whether you're talking about your 'friend' or 'yourself', as you switch from 'him' to 'I', but regardless, the deal is done...just make sure he/you/whomever doesn't get her pregnant! Then there will be more regrets. Sad that parents have to pay to marry off their daughters, but it happens all the time with other countries...or Amer. men paying to get an overseas lover. They rarely last, so it won't be long and it will be over. They/you/whomever can have an 'open marriage'..but again..what happens if she gets pregnant...tread lightly.

Well, if the cousin knows the marriage is fake, it's all good. They can both go about dating other people and they can live like room mates. No big deal. If I wasn't already, I'd definitely marry a guy for 20K let him be my room mate and divorce ASAP.

Well you got $20K out of it. You married her so I think you should get 2 years of free sex out of the deal.

Well, they dont have to be together. Just let the 2 years pass then get a divorce. Date other people in between those years... its marriage, but its NOT marriage.

It was wrong to take the money, if not also possibly illegal. He should go to a lawyer and tell him what he did, why he did it and ask for his protection and then turn himself in to authorities for his illegal actions. Let the chips fall where they may. Live and Learn.

Using marriage to make money when both parties are getting what they want is fine. It's not like people take it seriously anymore.

Your cousin accepted a contract. Fullfill it and then he is free. Regrets happen when you get what you want and don't want to pay back. Tell him to be a responsible contractor and fullfill his obligations. So there. I wouldn't trust that sucker.
