No, Tony parker deserved the MVP and that's why he got it. Bowens played LeBroad well but the fact of the matter is that LeBroad basically took shots at the wrong time, turned the ball over an awful lot and he was in a new atmosphere---playoff atmosphere. Not to take anything from Bruce, because he certainly played very good defense in the Finals. The big Cav issues were shot selection, turnovers, new to the playoffs (in recent years) and far too much a dependence of an unproven commodity (James, aka, LeBroad)

No. No. No!!!
I have yet to understand why all the hype is about Bruce Bowen. He had an easy assignment. LeBron is not consistent with his jumpshot, so all Bowen had to do is play LeBron for the drive to the basket. Now check this out, whenever you have shot blocker on your team, you lead the penetrator (LeBron) to the shot blocker (Duncan) for help. It is not like Bowen shut down LeBron with no assistance. No disrespect to Bowen but, all he has to do is play defense and hit the open three pointer from his favorite spot on the floor. What is he like the fourth option on offense? Please!! Now if he had to guard the tough matchups with no help and was like the second option on offense and he averaged 20 or more points for the finals then I would say Bruce for MVP. But as it stands Parker deserves that award.

I think Bruce Bowen deserves consideration not just for his job on James but also many of San Antonio's previous playoff opponent's best player that he was assign to (Allen Iverson, Steve Nash, Deron Williams). It sucks that the NBA Finals MVP Award usually favor offensive players more than defensive guys. They should have like an NBA Finals - MVOP (Most Valuable Offensive Player) and MVDP (Most Valuable Defensive Player) Award. That way, guys like Bruce Bowen, Alonzo Mourning (last year), and Tayshaun Prince (2 years before that) would get some credits for their hardwork. It's funny how defense is very underrated when it comes to acknowledgements but yet, everyone knows that defense wins championships.

Bruce Bowen should have got it because the spurs wouldn't have been able to contain Lebron without him, but a defense only player will never get finals mvp. Tony Parker didn't do much defensively though so I say Duncan should have gotten it.

Tony Parker deserved every bit of the MVP trophy he got.

Bruce Bowen however should be commended for the excellent defensive job he did not only in the finals but throughout the regular season as well.

I think the NBA owes Bruce a defensive player of the year award or two before he retires.

No. Tony Parker deserved the MVP for his offensive work.

All recognition to Bruce Bowen, though, as he did an excellent job on defense. However the Spurs were generally strong on defense and owe this championship to a blending of a very strong defense with some solid performers on offense.

The strong point-getters, Duncan, Ginobli and Parker, all delivered and cooperated in winning all the marbles.

The strength of the Spurs is the generosity of its players, who don't hog the glass or the paint in scoring, but will readily pass to the players who can make the points.

Careful, you are giving too much credit to that James. Bruce was on cruise control to defend against a unpolished/undisciplined young player.

Bruce deserves a lot of credit for the Spurs winning it all but so does a whole bunch of great players. If the Spurs had anyone that did not perform in super star status it would have to be the Coyote. He probably did but just did not get the camera time;.

lmao. duncan should get more credit then bowen. it was duncan who made it so he had to shoot jumpers and couldn't drive the lane. bowen had it easy because 1 lebron can't shoot worth crap. 2 he isn't a clutch player.
Mark my words Lebron will only win a championship if cavs get a big time scorer, and lebron can basically be the one who dishes the ball. He does not have that killer mentality needed to take over games in the fourth quarter. He looks like he doesn't even want to be the star, but would rather have someone else be the one to go too.
