Yeah, I know its a hard thing to grasp but I have heard of it. Dont look at me like some kind of idiot for asking a legitimate question. I have heard people say they know the true date of Jesus's birthday and they tribute it to their philosophy class. I was just wondering if anyone had heard that too.

This used to be a fairly common topic of discussion - despite what some others tell you.

There were two main reasons for the discussion: 1] historical accuracy, 2] to discredit Christianity by proving that Christmas was moved to replace pagan winter rites.

From memory, I recalled dates in September or March/April being the most common. Wikipedia has a thorough discussion of possible dates (did you look there first?).

I have never heard of such! I'm not a very religious person, (as far as claiming to be a certain religion). I have studied the Bible, and as far as I know to be true. Jesus wasn't born in December, the sheep Herder were attending their flock. December would have been to cold. From what I have been told, someone in the fall. Who really knows? Hope this helped a little.

Jesus was probably born about 4 B.C. That's about all anyone can say. 25th December was the feast of Sol Invicta, the Invincible Sun, a Roman festival. Like the other correspondent says, the Christians pinched this date for their own use, as they have done with countless other festivals and deitys re-aligned as saints.
Don't get hung up on Jesus's exact date, he was a decent sort of a bloke no matter when he was born.

sorry, I don't kow why a philosophy class would talk about it, other than a spout off of religeon, but yeah, from other sources, (such as chinese astronomers), etc. that it occured about 3 BC, according to the gegorian calendar, but the precise date, I am fuzzy on.
In those Philos classes, they probably simply discussed that Dec. 25 was the date of a large pagan holiday, and that the christians moved Jesus's birthday to correspond with it, as peopel will say they did with all other christian holidays...
sorry I couldn't help with the exact day.

People claim to know all the time. But technically it's still called "speculation" or an educated GUESS. They'll always be someone, somewhere claiming this or that about Jesus Christ. I celebrate Jesus Christ's LOVE for me everyday. I don't need to know the exact date of his birth. Just that I was BORN AGAIN through Jesus Christ and serve Him forever. That's what counts! :)

Ummm, no, but I have heard some people say they know the date of Jesus second coming. The Jehovahs Witnesses claim that he is walking the earth right at this very minute.

I've heard that too, but I think it's just fraudulent excitement of idle busy-bodies
