[(1000-x)/x]*2=0.06
so
[(1000-x)/x] = 0.06/2

[(1000-x)/x] = 0.03

but how can i find the x?

Thanks.

(1000 - x)/x = 0.06/2 = 0.03
1000 - x = 0.03x
1000 = 0.03x + x
1.03x = 1000
x = 1000/1.03 = 970.873

Starting from your last line of working, multiply both sides by x:

(1000-x)/x *x = 0.03*x

1000 - x = 0.03x then add x to both sides

1000 = 0.03x + x

1000 = 1.03x then divide both sides by 1.03

1000/1.03 = x and work it out!

You're almost there. Here's how to proceed:

(1000-x) / x = 0.03

Multiply both sides by x:
1000-x = 0.03*x

Add x to both sides:
1000 = 0.03*x + x

Simplify the right side. Treat x as if it were "1x":
1000 = 0.03*x + 1x
1000 = 1.03*x

Divide both sides by 1.03:
1000/1.03 = x
970.87 = x

[(1000-x)/x] = 0.03 ............. multiply both sides by x
(1000-x) = 0.03*x
1000 - 1.03x = 0
1000 = 1.03x
x = 1000 / 1.03
x = 970.9

now, does this work in the initial eqn?

[(1000-x)/x]*2=0.06
[(1000-970.9)/970.9 ]*2=0.06

[29.12 / 970.9 ] * 2 = 0.06
[ 0.03 ] * 2 = 0.06

looks ok
