Fish are not a waste! A bowl will not be able to keep healthy fish, it is far too small. If you got a 5 gallon corner aquarium though, you could probably keep 5-7 Neon Tetras, which are very colorful. Also, you could add a few Glass Shrimp to clean up. The Neons will need at least 5 of their own species, they get very lonely and will die of loneliness. For this tank, you will need a heater and a filter, but you should get a kit, so if includes the stuff already. You would really only need to pick out your gravel color. You might want to get a clump of Java Moss, loosen up the fronds in a bucket of water, and drop them in. The moss will attatch to the gravel and the fish will enjoy swimming through it and the shrimp will enjoy eating algae off of it. If you are only willing to get a bowl, fish are not for you. Would you like to live in a closet (and by closet I mean normal size closet, not Beverly Hills closet where it is as big as a master bedroom)?

P.S.: Goldfish also grow too big for a bowl, they can get more than a foot long.

How big is the bowl? Most likely the only fish that would survive in a small bowl would be minnows.Minnows are cold water fish and are small. Betta's like some posters said are tropical fish which needs warm water to thrive. And the vases as some are mentioned are cruel to any fish and they do NOT kill every fish they come across. Betta's are peaceful fish and only fight with other male Betta's or fish that are aggressive. Although you could house a Betta if your house stays warm and you do frequent water changes in a small bowl. You should feed most fish 2 times a day, only as much as they can consume within a few minutes. And Nemo will not survive in a bowl, it is a saltwater fish.

If you're talking about Nemo from the movie 'Finding Nemo' then that would be a clown fish. I found the name funny, myself, because 'Nemo' is Latin for 'No one'

Anywho.

It depends on the kind of fish you get. Beta fish don't require oxygen but you can't really put them in the same bowl unless you want them to kill each other.

Goldfish are pretty good about not needing oxygen.

You might want to look on Wikipedia and try to find some fish at Wal-Mart or Petland. Those people really know their stuff.

Nemo is a clown fish. If you go with one fish, a betta is happy in a large bowl with no air pump. The males are very pretty, but must be kept alone. They are very aggressive with other fish, even of their own kind.

There are little mini aquariums that come with air pumps if you want something different. A couple of small colorful goldfish would be nice easy starter fish. There are other good options out there, but I've only ever had Bettas and goldfish.

okay you CANNOT get a "nemo" fish. nemo is a clown fish and lives in salt water. he or she will not survive in a bowl. if you want to get a "nemo" fish you will have to buy at least a 20-30 gallon fishtank and buy a complete saltwater set-up system and those can be pretty pricey, let me tell ya. if you looking more towards a fish that lives in a bowl, bettas are the fish for you. but you cannot get two bettas and but them together or they will fight to the death. you can even but some stones in a medium size in width vase and even put a plant in it {no soil is needed for the plant} the betta will live happily in a small area cause they are very territorial and like small places. it will not need an air pump or anything else like that. u need to buy some water de-chlorinator tho if u use bottle water, hose water, sink water, or tap water. hopefully you dont use toilet water. haha. buy some betta pellets for food. feed him or her three times a day, morning, evening, night. u dont have to change the water because the plant will suck up most of the waste and non needed things. your welcome :]

hey you see it depends with what type of fish you would like to have... of course you'll still be needing an oxygen for it... feed them twice a day (one in the morning and in the evening)...
of course you should maintain it, clean it twice or once a week...
If you are wondering what fish is Nemo well it is a Clown Fish...

thanks...

You can put any small fish depending on the bowl size, and yes you should add air stones which come in many sizes and shapes.

You should clean the bowl every 3 to 6 days depending on the fish type you get and how fast it gets dirty

nemo is a clown fish, it's a salt water fish, it takes alot of time and dedication and it's really hard to raise salt water fish. if you really wanna start with fish the best and easiest and cheapest are comet goldfish where you can get anywhere for like 15 to 25 cents a fish, you hardly have to do anything for them, that's the best start
