if you're talking about movies in LA, then you need an agent (or no director will really consider you)...and you also need to do head shots. when you walk into an audition, they'll usually have a camera there and they'll record your audition. first, you have to do the slate (my name is ______ and I'm represented by ____). and then you just go home and PRAY!

Student Films are usually easy to track down. They usually post audition details on forums and the like as well as canvas local groups. If you are looking more for professional work, then you might look toward some of the more professional Actor Registration Web Site (actors now comes to mind) but you'll most likely only get extra or supernumerary work here.

For better roles and such, you either need an agent, a good and honest one, or to have a good network of contacts in the industry, plus experience and training.

There are several magazines that will have auditions etc. in them. For me, our school recieved a letter asking for people who wanted to be in the film, because they are shooting near by. (it's not a drama school, or anything, either, but many drama schools will try and get their students auditions). Look in magazines, and on the internet. The film company's site may have some details.

There's a magazine called The Stage. Lots of them are in there.

You get an agent. Take your photo shots, and find one. Of course they charge a fee to get you the information.

What state or country are you in? In the US, search backstage.com, actorsaccess.com, or http://www.actorsequity.org/castingcall/...

Good luck!
