To write a good poem, it has to be something you are feeling. No-one can really tell you what to write, because if you aren't feeling it the words won't come to you. Most poems are emotionally charged so you will probably find you write more when you are particularly upset/moved/happy about something.
I usually wait for inspiration to hit, and then I sit down and write until I get it all out. If I force myself to write, it ends up total rubbish and I throw it away.
Hope this helps:)

plain stuff made magic--just write about any old thing, say a fire hydrant--look at Marianne Moore's poetry--she uses animals, plants, objects of all sorts as images or motifs in her poems.
Your bed--what is it like? Do you have crumbs in yours, and things scattered on it, like mine? I love reading in bed and snacking and doing crossword. I even have a telephone perched on my bed. That could be the start of a good poem or story.
The more concrete the subject of the poem, the easier it is to write it (particulars have variety). When you want to write about something vague and abstract, you will have to look for images to fit the theme, whereas with a take-off point that uses an object or living thing, you already have your links for images and the theme, tone, and voice will come from them.

Create inspiration by watching, observing the weather (monsoon! rains! spring! flowers!), people (what a variety!), children at play, just the road, or animals around! In fact, they all make good topics to write, too! Write about your own experience, about your thoughts and perceptions of life, your dreams.......oh, yes, there are so many things around that should rouse your interests and writing talents (prose and poetry, both!) ! And, do post them! Have fun, create fun and joy!

Stay away from love, the world is too full of bad love poems!
If I have writer's block, I write about what I can see from my window, and try to stretch my mind with interesting metaphors/similes. Good exercise!
