I am moving and starting a new high school. At the moment I am homeschooled so I already changed my high school on myspace to match the noe I will be going to so I can try to meet more people. But on the school forum boards should I go ahead and post and introduce myself or not? I'm shy so I would NEVER make a board about myself. Just need a little bit of advice on what to do in this situation.

Hi,

I think you should do everything you feel comfortable doing to give yourself the best chance for a most positive transition to the new school. I think you will have the greatest opportunity in your face to face communications to make friends if you attend a high school... but if you continue homeschooling in your new area, i would reconsider your online presence. Do what feels natural and comfortable, but make sure not to sabotage yourself by being too closed off to new opportunity....Everything worth while has its own set of risks associated with it. Knowing this will help you better develop your expectations.

Be Brave! Post about yourself on a community board/your new school's page... wherever, it does not have to be one devoted solely to you... I wouldn't do that either.... but you give your new audience more potential to get to know you and your thoughts and perhaps that will help them be more open to you as the new girl.

In my estimation, changing schools can be great. When I was in highschool, the new girls coming in always got the attention of the "it" guys....can it really be all that different today!

Good Luck!

I think it is a great idea. If people think you were friendly enough to introduce yourself on the boards, they may be more comfortable with you when you get there, and they will feel as if they know you a little before they meet you in person.

Just introduce yourself to them, try to make people around you comfortable with you. Confident to yourself and what your doing. Be positive.....

Don't move and just stay at home where you're at now.
