Like the previous answer, I would if I noticed it at the store, but if I got home, it depends. If they gave me like 10 dollars more than they should've, I'd take it back. If it was just pocket change, probably not.

I would always give the money back even if it's only a little and I only realized when I got home. Once when I was tired I brought 2 large bags of chips for my family, but I forgot to pay and the shopkeeper got a bit distracted with other orders and also forgot to ask me to pay. I only realized when I got home and it was a bit late so we just ate the chips and I gave back the money the next day. The shopkeeper was quite happy and told me the other guys working at the chip shop the day before were a bit dopey and he thanked me for giving the money back.

But on the other hand I think that if it is a small amount and you only realized when you got home, for example 50p. Then maybe you don't necessarily have to give it back because it was the shopkeepers fault so why should you have to pay 70p in fuel or for bus fare to give the shopkeepers money back when he's not going to pay for your transportation/travelling costs for his mistake? Alternatively you can just give the change back the next time you shop at that same store.

I am a shopkeeper and customers are honest about 75% of the time.
I get to return the favor when new bills stick together or they think it was a one dollar bill and a five, but it is a larger denomination.
What goes around, comes around-is true.

Definitely yes. I have had my wallet returned to me when I was in a store, and everything was in it. I feel if it isn't mine, it's theft and I wouldn't want to get the shopkeeper in trouble or make the shop lose money. Bad Karma.

I virtually saved it to be truthful. Then i presumed approximately it. My mom in regulation is a cashier at wal-mart (comparable save). I bear in techniques listening to a narrative of somebody who develop into like 20 short sooner or later and have been given written up for it. curiously they have little tolerance for shortages. that shortage positioned her one screw up remote from being jobless. there develop into no way i ought to stay with myself putting yet another in that place for 10 dollars. I recommend come on. they want their interest extra advantageous than i wanted the money (the little extra it develop into). I went in defined what had occurred and set it promptly. The cashier develop into very grateful. I wager the reason being by using the fact she knew she might are transforming into a write up for it. It develop into her fortunate day to make a mistake. I probable additionally got here as a wakeup call to be extra cautious. all in all, i've got faith extra advantageous for helping somebody out that needed it; even nevertheless they didnt realize it.

Yes, and I have. I've worked in retail and know the grief that management gives the under-appreciated cashiers when they're a few bucks off after bringing in thousands.

yes I would and I have. there was once I told the clerk she gave me too much change and she argued with me and said no she did not. I proved to her how she did but she still insisted she did not so I gave up and just left it laying on the counter and walked out. LOL
