David M: I never said nuking the ship would be successful. Do you trust Iran, or risk intergalactic war?

A technologically advanced race comes to earth we would be crazy to nuke them because they probably have better weapons then us. We would have to do everything possible to tell these aliens just how wrong and horrible it would be to give advanced technology to a country that has existed for thousands of years and still can't make their country work right.

First of all a highe intellegence than us should be able to see through Irans dance about nuclear weapons, does ANYONE really belive they are a peace loving country?

I don't and yes I would nuke and neutron then back to the stone age, would leave their dust bowl looking like a chuhuly work of art.

I'm guessing you would want to nuke the ship out of fear their technology could do us harm, in which case, wouldn't they very likely be able to defend themselves against such an attack? So now you've made an enemy of someone with superior technology who would be more inclined to befriend the Iranians.

I'm glad you're not President.

No, because it is not a violation of international laws, and every other nation would decide it was time to put an end to the nonsense.
An action like that is just what China and soviet loyalists within the Russian government are waiting for, especially while several thousand of our troops are on the other side of the world.

More of your flawed logic.
If a spaceship landed in Iran & offered to share their technology with Iran, and was susceptible to destruction by a weapon invented on earth, then obviously they had nothing worthwhile to offer Iran to begin with.

On that theory shouldn't we be nuking Pakistan, who shared the know how of how to develop nuclear weapons with Iran?

No if we did Iran would be pissed. Plus a truely intellegent species realizes the infatitles of war. So they wouldn't start one.
