During a visit, my grandfather molested me and my sister when we were little kids. I told my parents, but they didn't understand just how bad the situation was. I'm not sure why, but they didn't know all the details that I tried to tell them when I was little. My grandfather is now back in town staying with some of my relatives. My relatives don't seem to understand what happened. I think some of them don't even want to know what happened. My parents now want to help me press charges, but we don't know what steps we should take in that direction. I'm 21 years old now. What do I do? He lives in Colombia and I know that he had been living in a house where a bunch of young girls were also staying. How do I stop this sick man and prevent him from hurting anyone else?

To answer your question Yp_michael_shawnee, I have never talked to anyone about what happened except my parents and the police. I know exactly what happened and it has stayed with me my whole life. I have other info too where I know that this man is a danger to others.

i really feel for you and your sister. what you went through was not your fault but you will be suffering from this for the rest of your lives.

my opinion, you should contact your local authorities and tell your story. the statute of limitations may have run out but at least it will be on record. when you were little girls you didn't have a strong voice as you were dependant on those around you to protect you. now that you are a woman you can take control of you situation and make a difference. it won't be easy to talk about but in the end it will only strengnthen you.

also, if you can warn alll of the women and children that he may encounter, you will be doing a great service in doing so.

God bless you and your sister- stay strong

If he lived in the States when the abuse happened, you need to go to the authorities to file charges against him. I don't know if Colombia has an extradition treaty with the U.S.(Where they will ship him back here.) ,but you can find out. And to hell with anyone who doesn't understand or WANT to understand. If you can prosecute him,do it so it doesn't happen to anyone else. I've been there and so have you,so you know...

Report it to authorities, and get a restraining order. He will probably get deported, but who cares!? However, You may want to call Colombian authorities too, so that they know to watch him, to make sure he isn't hurting girls there. If you can get a more accurate address for him before you do that.

You, your sister, and parents should go to the police and tell them what happened.

They will take it from there.

Pardon my "sardonic-ness," but have you been around a social worker/"psychotherapist" lately? Are you ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN you've been molested, or has someone "planted" that in your head? Also, if you've an ounce of humanity, consider that your complaint, true or not, proven in a court of law or not, is going to destroy someone else's life. Even an acquittal leaves a taint on the defendant that's virtually impossible to overcome - without moving far, far away and moving heaven and Earth to make sure no evidence of the accusation remains on the available public record! THINK ABOUT IT!
