Every country has that aspect: For the world to live without that country, the world would be less of one. And yet, ultimately, the world can live without any one country.
Think it through. For hundreds of years, the Western world lived without the knowledge of the "New World" until 1492, or when the Vikings found it.
But, to get to the point, the USA has many victories, but it has many shortcomings. Because it's a global power, it's bound to make enemies.
Where I live, I find a lot of TV dramas speaking of people moving to the US to start a new life. It's generally seen by Koreans where I live that those who move to the US will fare better than in Korea. I find that annoying, but accept that there is such a stereotype. I was a 2nd generation Korean-American who came back to Korea.
Generally, people here don't hate the US. It's still seen as an ally and even with the FTA (Free Trade Agreement), which has caused a lot of anger from many Koreans, the idea of the US is that the people are still good. The people here aren't very fond of Bush, however, unfortunately.
I think the sentiment where I'm at is lighter than in other nations, however. Nevertheless, God bless, and remember that the world is vast. Think deeper.

America is the greatest nation and is loved. The president dad talked of a new world order. He did not have what his son has done in mind. The first Iraq war we led as part of a team effort. The second war led and told the world you are with us.If not we go with the willing and we remember who did not stand by us.You can be a team player or the team.Under Bush 2 we are the team that is always right. We now go from pride to the point arrogance. We are still loved and will be loved more when the bully leaves the big house.

Here's a Canuck's answer, eh? lolols ... I think that every country has its attributes and downfalls. The majority of these downfalls is probably the leaders of the country. Even Bush must have a good quality or two; I'm sure that Harper does ~ just waiting to see what it is.
Personally, I LIKE my neighbours to the south; always have. Americans tend to be friendlier IMO. :) I'm glad to have the US next door. Yes, wars bite but thankfully, we have those brave men n' women who are willing to fight and protect us and others.
Globally, Americans mightn't be liked because sometimes they're known as brash n' loud, thus the term, "the ugly American" and that's just a few bad apples (like with every country). The French seem to have the worst rep as being rude and that goes for our Quebecois.
Soooo, to answer your first question, it's both ~ loved and hated. But NO, we can't live without you! And anyone who says differently needs his/her head examined.

Of course everything has two sides, that's why I both love and hate American (not America). Americans had contributed to the civilization but also contribute a lot in global warming. I think American should take responsibility more than any other countries in this world to minimize the effect that nowadays has been moving worst. It's impossible to please all people but it's always possible to take responsibility for what we do. that's what the rest of the world want Americans do.

The observe "nationalism" has been linked with maximum of undesirable issues that this is merely no longer a sturdy theory to apply it to describe your self. evaluate, as an occasion, Quebec nationalism in my domicile united states of america of Canada. The "nationalists" in Quebec want to style a separate French-conversing united states of america and subsequently ruin Canada as all of us are conscious of it. no longer a favorable progression. comparable ethnic nationalism has been in charge for the failures happening in the international places that before have been areas of Yugoslavia. In France, nationalism has replace into equated with a semi-fascist political social gathering. If nationalism have been a attractiveness, it would be "Adolph": as quickly as familiar, yet now discredited and barely used.

I talk with various European friends. They fear us and consider us very arrogant. They live without us very well because they are an older culture. The debacle that resulted from our intervention into Iraq has been our undoing.

it's funny, while living in europe i heard alot of negative thoughts about the u.s and americans in general. almost all of these people had not been to the u.s. and based their opinions on what they saw/heard in the media. but when i would ask- so, would you like to visit- no one EVER said no.
