Challenge yourself to do more than is required. The best students aren't those who do only what is asked for, but those who take it to the next level, by learning more than the textbook will tell you. Another strategy I've used is to pick someone bright in the classroom and, without their knowing it, compete with them.

Actually to the person who corrected you, "what to do when you're bored?" is a fragment and not gramatically correct. If you're going to correct someone, at least do it right, and without sounding a pompous jerk.
Try watching some tv shows online. Im guessing you're talking about college as school, so you can watch a movie or study or something useful in your dorm. Im never bored when im at school, college is a blast! But if i do have any free time and im bored i play a game online or go out to eat with friends or catch a movie if other people are free and bored as well.

I study grammar ... for example ...
It should be "What to do when you're bored? Especially in school?"
