I was thinking about handcuffing her to the dressing room at the Goodwill for one day. It would torture her to be there and not be able to spend any money.
Any other USEFUL suggestions would be appreciated. She's really nice, so it can't be too mean!

Perhaps you could just stuff some tasty food in her mouth when she goes to speak so the word shopping doesn't come out : )

Ask her to spend the day with you at home so that y'all can bond. If you are sincere, she will appreciate it. That was always my favorite thing to do with my mother in law.

Take her to volunteer someplace with you. Serving the needy or caring for animals maybe.
