Instead of doing that, how about just upgrading the brake pads to a better quality material? You can gain better braking and less fade using something like ceramic pads. Ask at your local brake shop.

Traction is from the rear tires, thus the bigger the more traction. Brakes need bigger at the front because when stopping, the vehicle dips at the front. Big brakes at the rear will just skid, as there is less weight on the rear tires. 70% of braking is done from the front, on cars. On bikes the rear brake is the main, and the front applied carefully, or you run the risk of skidding the front tire. Bad idea.

You can go a little larger in the front with no adverse effects. The brake balance won't be too affected as the majority of the stopping power comes from the front discs. Now, if you go all out big-brake kit, then you should consider at least a minor upgrade to the rear brakes.

I'm sure if you shop around a bit you will find a manufacturer that makes a big front brake kit to work with your stock rears. I've never done a swap on a Honda but I have on many other makes. Most recently on a 1999 Mustang, I went from 11" to 13" brakes, the kit just bolted right on.

You cannot get BIGGER brake pads unless you get BIGGER calipers. Caliper replacement is dumb if it is unecessary. Over all, if you DO put bigger brakes on the front, you DO NOT need bigger brakes on the rear. Take it from me, get what brake pads you need, and no bigger, unless you are taking it racing; if you are taking it racing, don't, it's just a honda.

NO, as long as you use the same size on both sides.
Front does 80% of braking rear does little.

are you talking about the rotors? I don't think there's a problem with that..isn't honda civic front-disc, rear drms?
well either way, it's not going to have too much problem in braking, just uneven

Your brakes don't have to match in size necessarily, but it will make your stopping a bit uneven. On my car I have large Discs in the front, but drums in the back, so they don't have to be exactly the same

well, the thing is the front and rear rotors is not the same size. even if you wanted to. you can not. not even aftermarket. Usually the front rotors is slightly larger than the rear because the front braking system is more vital than the rear. So thats why the front rotor is larger.

It's not necessary, but different sized brakes would probably affect the normal brake bias of the car whether good or bad.
