I'm moving and I was wondering if I should take the bedroom or the basement..

The basement is bigger than the bedroom and the door to it is near the back door.

I think the basement has a lock on the door and the bedroom doesn't.

I'm not sure if the basement has electrical outlets, but the bedroom does.

does the area that the house is in flood on occasion? If it does then the bedroom is the better as you won't have to worry about your room filling up with water.

If you crave privacy and the basement is a comfy and spiderless basement then go for the basement.

You could just put a little lock on the bedroom door for privacy if that's the issue. A sliding lock- that way you can put it up yourself.

Basements are often damp, you need a de-humidifier
and you do not get much sunlight, if you are a sun lover do not take the basement. The basement will be cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter ( most of it will be insulated by being underground) it will have electrical outlets but they could be anywhere, like up near the ceiling
I lived in a basement apartment for four years, the lack of sun depressed me, so I would never live in one again.

i develop into an appraiser for 6 years. The bedrooms interior the basement are no longer considered complete residing area as you're describing and the domicile windows do no longer count number except that's a bi-point or tri-point it particularly is being considered as a 2 tale domicile. The bedrooms upstairs would be your mattress room count quantity with the basement sq. photos cost based larger consistent with foot because of the livable section and ammenities in that basement. for example: i will evaluate your one tale with complete basement with bedrooms and a a million/2 tub to a similar one tale with unfinished basement. i might supply $10 squarefoot credit to the incomplete parts of basement and that i might supply your complete basement a credit of being properly worth $25 squarefoot. This makes your place properly worth extra for sure. the main significant factor is a washing room interior the basement in case you like those bedrooms to count quantity as larger cost complete basement. your place is often whilst in comparison with a bi-point if no different comparable comparables could properly be got here across to assist your appraisal cost you like. A non-conforming (in assessment to the different properties contained obtainable) can on occasion harm your industry cost. evaluate that too. yet as rule of thumb, the basement bedrooms dont count quantity as intense because of the fact the cost of the upstairs. in case you 3 br upstairs i visit apply comparables with 3br to properly worth your place that certainly have a partly complete or completely complete basement as yours does. Then i might alter the money of the version in high quality of fabric used and account possibly an further 5000 if it has a bath down there too. desire this helps. good success and happy making plans!

are they both finished? no one wants to sleep in an unfinished basement. but if your going to fix it up yourslef any way, the basement sounds like the best spot. its bigger, and more private.
