I have applied for this Radiology Tech Aide positon at a local hospital. They're always hiring for different shifts... and I apply at all of them because its really important for me to gain some experiences...sicne Im going to school for Radiography.. I know its competitive etc.. but come on they listed "no experiences required" I have called them and they gave me the "competitive speech" .. I did ask if there was anything I was missing.. they said no. I am certified with CPR and GXMO.... I thought they were EOE.
or at least thats what they listed.. Im not giving up because this is important to me... Have any of you experience this before with any employer..??

I'm sorry this has happened to you, because I know how frustrating it can be. They may not require experience, but if they have applicants with experience, they may give them preference. Have they interviewed you at all, or have they just not responded when you put in your application? If you haven't gotten any response to your application, how have you approached this? Have you submitted applications online, or have you gone in for the application? If you've gone in, have you dressed professionally, gone at the appropriate time, asked politely? If so, maybe you have said something inappropriate on the application itself. Have you spelled everything correctly? If you can take the application home, have someone look over it for you.

If you have gotten interviews, but not the job, then the problem is less likely with your experience than it is with the way you come across, especially if they interviewed you once, but not after you have submitted subsequent applications. Get someone (maybe one of your teachers or someone in the career center at your school) to role-play the interview with you and give you feedback.

Don't assume that the fact that they haven't hired you is an EOE failure, unless you have been in the hospital and not seen anyone of your ethnicity there. While it certainly happens, that isn't the first place to go. I often find that when I don't get a job I went for, everyone jumps to the assumption that it was because I am female - until I point out that the person they hired was also female, and had more experience than I did.

I don't think you need to have additional specific experience as a rad tech aide, if you full advantage of your clinical experience in school. If you want a job in a hospital, try for unit secretary or patient care tech positions as well as the rad tech aide positions. Have you started Radiography school yet? You WILL learn what you need in school. I have been a tech for 16 years and also teach in the Rad Tech program at a community college. Most of the years I have worked, it has been at a teaching facility. I've seen both good and bad students. Apply yourself and never say, "I've already tested on that." We require more work when we hear that!

Yes, and I got told, "we can hire who we want to hire". Unless you can prove that you were not given an equal opportunity, you are out of luck. Sorry, but that is a fact of life.
Keep trying and good luck to you.

i worked for a hospital for 2 years and even though they post stuff, they liked to hire from within so it might be tougher than you think.

good luck, you goofy chick you.
