First of all, run virus and spyware scans.

Second, how old is the system?
If it is running Windows 95, you can expect it to be slow.

If you recently bought the laptop and it runs Windows XP or Vista, you may want to upgrade the RAM.

Maybe going to your Dad isn't such a bad idea? It's just a computer, and he can help you.

Ok first of all, none of us are "just" anything. You are a 12 yr old young woman and I will be happy to answer your question. It's not your laptop, it's the server. You may need an upgrade or you could have a bad connection. Check into that and if that's not the problem, take your laptop to the manufacturer, ie:macbook would go to an apple store, dell to a dell store, etc. tell them your predicament and see if they'll just do a free inspection, that way when you go to your parents, you'll know just what the problem is and they'll be happy you took the initiative to figure it out on your own. I hope!! Good Luck!

it may be as simple as running the defragment program. over time files become scattered all over the drive and causes the computer to take extra time finding them. also memory becomes fragmented over time and should be defragged regularly same as hard drive. you can find these options by clicking on the start button and viewing list of programs particularly the accessories or tools programs and select the one you want to run. software is available that will clean all this and more especially the registry which can become corrupt over time causing slow down and other problems. junk files are a problem also as they take up uneccessary space on your computer. to do this advanced stuff you will need the software that covers all these areas and more. check your local department store-computer section- and they may have what you need. one in particular does a e excellent job of this and is about $39.95 for the pro version. this will keep your computer running in tip top condition.

Try Tools>Internet Options>delete cookies and history etc

That will help to begin with.

YOu may have a virus, but without knowing what it is ............ can't really help.

Hopefully you are running some sort of antivirus - run that and maybe try running an online scan too, like Housecall from Trend which may find something else.

Have a good read of that page - everything on there is free and works well and will do NO harm whatsoever to your computer. Lots of great info too.

Lol well im 13! No difference but how old is your computer? If it's pretty old then it might not work effieciently.... Also how much stuff is in your hard drive? I suggest using the disk defragmentation on your computer. Go to Start>Programs>Accesories>System Tools> Disk Defragmentation. That will help get rid of some stuff. Good Luck!

You might not have enough MB of RAM.
this is memory in the computer.

I don't have a laptop, though.

if you have windows XP, you can access how much RAM you have by going to the start menu and clicking "control panel".

click on the one that says "system".

and then there is a list in a window that shows up about things in your computer.

one of the things is MB of RAM.

if you have a bunch of stuff on your computer, that means it's taking up the memory.

if you have lower than 300, you might want to get a new memory card.
but those cost about 50 bucks.

i got 512MB for about 40$ at tigerdirect.com

If it is slower than previously then try simple processes like defragging (start-accessories-system tools-disk defrag) or disk clean-up found in the same area both will help clean it up...but if that doesn’t work or you have done that already you may have Spy ware or heavy Drive & or Memory usage! Anyway good luck I hope this helps if so please consider as best answer!

Could be a virus or spy-ware.. if you have a anti-virus program this would be the time to run it.. same with a spy-ware sweeper type program..

Defragmenting your hard-drive might also help speed it up some..

Be careful what you download from the internet..

Is it just the problem with your internet explorer or does it happen when you load any program ? If its with your explorer only then disable all internet add on's and see if it works fine.
To disable add open explorer, click on tools - > manage add ons -> Enable or disable Add ons
