EU will survive because the member countries support its mission to cooperate on trade and security in Europe.

The EU will survive, its been going too long with too many vested interests to fall apart, but it will deadlock on progress and stall for a while as it expanded too far too fast bringing in the eastern european countries who have little interest in giving up powers after only recently gaining them, and Britain which has always wanted to do its own thing,

the fact that a large number of brits said they would vote no on a referrendum on the constitution as being 'too continental' and the french DID vote No because it was 'too british' shows the deep divisions that will prevent much progress,

Unless the politicians ignore their people and plow ahead without consultation (which many countries like Germany did much to the anger of their populations who just wanted to be asked) if that happens it could cause radical anti european political parties to find ways in to power which could then tear it apart,

but unless the politicians are monstrously stupid and try to foce things the EU will keep going, though it needs to stop expanding for the moment and focus on getting its house in order

The EU will sort out most of its major and minor problems and will move forward with a new-found independence from U.S. influence that is refreshing to witness.

Thank you George W. Bush for your special gift of ineptitude that has galvanized European independence!
