I have experienced some chest pain for the last 2 weeks but not been able to get an appointment with the doctor. I feel the pain more when i exhale.
Does anyone know what it could be due to?
I've lost weight in the last four months so I dont think it could be weight related, i go to the gym 4-5 times a week, eat quite healthily, the pain right in the centre of my chest - between the breasts.

Go to EMERGENCY immediately! Never ever play around and wait on an appointment when you are dealing with chest pains!

If you have difficulty breathing go to the ER, but sounds like it's chronic (2wks). Well, if you can reproduce the pain by pushing on your chest wall, it is probably a costrocondritis (inflammation of chest wall/cartilage), you can take motrin to help this. If you can't reproduce the pain and you only have pain on exhaling, sounds like either an infection of your lungs (possibly pneumonia..but, you don't sound that sick w/ a temperature and productive cough OR could be an inflammation of chest wall). If the symptoms go away, I would do nothing especially if you're not short of breath. If they symptoms get worse w/ shortness of breath go to ER to rule out blood clot, severe asthma, etc....
Hope this helps. Try not to work out...might worsen symptoms.

Get to an instacare if your reg. Dr. can't see you - here are my best guesses-
1. Muscle pull
2. "bra-strap" pain (gas is trapped in your abdomen and puts pressure on your chest - this really hurts)
3. Spine is out of alignment (nerves connect chest and back)
wearing the wrong bra
4. unremembered injury tothat area (like you walked into a post or something and tried to forget about embarassing yourself) - I have (*sigh*) done this
5 (not likely, but still -) Lung cancer. My friend's dad was 45, never overweight, did triathalons, never smoked a day in his life, grew up in a non-smoking home ate healthy and died about 7 months ago from lung cancer. If you hav ever been a amoker or been exposed to second hand smoke you need to have a Spiral CT scan. Only Spiral CT can see cancer - not regular CT, not x-ray.
6. Asthma
7. Walking pneumonia or bronchitis or allergies leadind to a swelling of the lining of your lungs (called pleurisy)

you do need to go to the doctor but it almost sounds like a lung infection which if this is the case then they will give u penicillin
