ill probably get someone to feed my fish, but if i was to use the vacation feeder the instructions say that i should add a "block"
and in the description of the product on the back says : " Nutritious feeder block for tropical freshwater fish"

so is this circle molded food one block?

i have two gold barbs, a bloodfin tetra and two clown loaches
im afraid that theyll over eat

i dont want to leave them without food for two weeks
although someone will come to my house once a week, should i ask them to feed my fish?

but the main question is, what do they mean by blocks when talking about the vacation feeder??
its this lump of fish food in a cicular plate that has a foil lid over it...

I have to agree with andy and steven on this - fish can actually go for more than two weeks without being fed, and that's a better outcome than coming home to a tank that needs to be cleaned because the binder in these feeding blocks has added chemicals to foul your water (and yes the entire thing is probably one block if it's circular - there are square ones with lines where they can be broken apart if they're meant to be used in sections).

All these feeder are is plaster of Paris with food mixed in, and most of it will dissolve within the first day. It would be better if you're having someone to look in on things just feed them the one time they're there. You can even use an envelope or snack-sized ziplock bag to measure out the amount of food the fish should be given, and don't try to give them "extra" for the times they weren't fed - this can foul the water as well.

Fish don't over eat, however the block breaks down very slowly, and you have to worry that the water quality can decline rapidly. Its always better to have a friend or an auto feeder to feed the fish, both of wish will save you any worries. Has as been stated fish can go without food for at least a week, and i remember reading an article where a fish keeper was taken to court for leaving his fish for 2 weeks with no one feeding them by the royal society for the prevention to cruelty to animals, for them only to have the case thrown out when he produced a leaflet produced by the erstwhile organization stating that leaving a fish for 2 weeks was OK.

A poorly fed fish in an aquarium is far better fed than a wild fish.

To answer your first question, yes.
They won't over eat because the food disolves very slowly.
