It showed negative, however.. after the test wass complete.. I read the instructions and it said use a dry container. I used a water cup that I emptied water from a fast food place. Is there a chance she is still pregnant? There were only little drops of water or just a little moist in the cup.

Yeah, she was late a week. But it also says chlorine is in tap water and i was reading other questions and it says chlorine kills the hormone that the tests look for, that's why I'm wondering will the little drops have enough chlorine to make the test negative?

No, there's not a chance. The instructions say that so that you use something CLEAN. Just pee on the stick. But no, this negative is really a negative. The tests look for a hormone that's either there, or not there- a little water is not going to make the hormone unrecognizable...

My doctors told me that a positive always means yes and a negative means maybe.

I assume you're very young by the fact that you're sneaking around to do the test. Take your girlfriend to your local Health Department or free clinic. They will do a quick blood test and you will know for sure.

Parents are usually more understanding that you think they will be (after the initial shock!). If she IS pregnant - do NOT make any rushed decisions. No matter what you decide it will affect the rest of your lives.

Good luck! If you need anything, please feel free to email me. Babies are never a mistake but they sure can be a surprise!

The tests do occasionally register a false-negative. But not from water in a cup. If there were pregnancy hormones present in her urine then it would more than likely register a positive. A false-negative most usually registers when you do the test too soon.

I doubt that a little water in a cup will make a test negative...I just say stop worrying and take another test.

Why would you go through the trouble of peeing in a cup rather than just doing it directly on the stick? That way, you know there aren't any other contaminants that will affect the results. I would try it again and pee directly on the stick. Skip the nasty McD's cup!

You should have peed on the stick. The substance from that cup messed up the test. Go get another test and pee on the stick!!
