Hi all, I'm 6 months today and just curious... How long is a normal hospital stay after I have my baby? Considering all goes without complication and it is a normal vaginal birth? What has your experience been? When should I pre-register? Has anyone taken a birthing class? If so, was it helpful or did you forget it all the minute you went into labor?
Thanks!

2 days vaginal, 5 days c-section. My personal experience, take the epidural, it hurts lol. I ripped and was thrilled to have had it. The pain pill they gave me before the epidural did nothing. Register 1.5 before around that time. Birthing classes are okay, a little scary though. The breathing really didn't work for me. The difference postions they tell you to get in while in labor wasn't anything I used, but you might like it. I dunno I was in too much pain to get in all those different positions. Good luck!! Congradulations on the new baby!

My normal hospital stay was labor and delivery and then 24 hrs. after delivery. ( If you deliver at 2am they won't kick you out at 2am 24 hrs. later)

Took the birhting classes for the first 2 I didn't mind seeing the room where I would be in LDR, but the rest was just annoying, you actually had to sit on the floor and practice breathing etc. It's hard to get up when you're pregnant and not very comfortable on the floor.

I did however find out when your really supposed to use those breathing techniques---when your baby latches on for breast feeding. No kidding it helps distract from the pain and also helps you relax so your milk can "let down"

If all goes well and the baby is eating they should let u go home in 24 hours! and as for the birthing class, i have heard a lot of good, but it did not help me, i couldnt even think about the breathing techniques when i was in labor, but i am also a wuss when it comes to pain, good luck!

I would count on 2 days plus or minus a day. I would definitely go and visit the hospital you plan to give birth in, and preregister. It makes the day you go into labor less stressful knowing where to go etc.

We had birthing classes. They were helpful during the labor and helped to know what to expect.

I didn't register, I didn't take any classes...

I just...woke up 3 weeks prior to my due date, and my water broke.

My stay, with slight complications and a C-Section, was about 3 and a half days. (16 hours in labor + that night, the next day, the next day, and then a few hours the next).

Hopefully yours will be fault free, and you can go home in two.

I didn't take pre-birthing classes and had a natural birth, the usual stay in hopspital is two nights and 4-5 for c-sects.

2-3 days hospital stay and go ahead and preregister. birthing classes are okay to do for fun but when it comes time for the baby it all flys out the window

Once you get closer your doctor will talk to about birth classes and tell how to get prepare. It depends on your labor and how it well it goes some women stay within 24hrs and if you have a boy that depends on if you get him circumcised

I was in hospital for 36 hrs total with my son, I was in labor for 9 hrs and checked out not long after he turned one day old. Likely you will stay 36-48 hrs.
